It's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out. Will heading in training be totally avoided so the "quota" can be used up during games? How will big bucks and the pressure of winning affect any "limits"? Also, I can see the prima donna players refusing to head at all... not because of injury but they'll have an excuse not to spoil their hair <laugh>

How will this affect boxing? They can't ignore it forever.

The guidance is for training only - not for competitive matches.

The study identified that heading in training is far more numerous than in matches.

When the mouthguards were first being trialled with the Ospreys, there were some ‘strange’ readings one morning which surprised the SWA guys who were monitoring the data. It turned out that some Ospreys players had played a game of heading tennis before training <yikes>

As for Boxing, I think that the GB team have them in Tokyo <cheers>

Why unfortunately? Would you be in with a chance at winning the gold medal? <whistle>

I wish! Silver's not bad though. And I'm not a bad loser, so I will applaud you from my lower position on the podium

I must admit I have one grandson who plays as a central defender who loves heading the ball, not something I would encourage but accept its still an important part of the game , although I do cringe when the better IMO option when he's got time and space would be to bring the ball down under control rather than hit it 30 yards back up field , he's 12

That's a great point, there's way too much head it about aimlessly even at the higher levels of the game. This is a chance for youngsters to actually get more skilful and more confident at the same time.
