Djenepo at LB is an absolute last resort scenario for me. If we go into another season with no backup at either side I’ll be extremely concerned. Plenty of time to sort that out yet so not going to have a meltdown about it. But Djenepo is unpredictable, not a quality you want in your defensive players. Not to mention his lack of defensive nous in general. Just shudder at the thought of him playing there in the PL tbh.
A Swedish relative of mine has worked with Zlatan quite a bit , commercially. The ‘third person’ act is just his way of keeping the publicity going and he is an absolute gent, kind and considerate. His ‘brand’ is of course extremely successful.
not comparing them directly as players, but in terms of club status, I would say Grealish at Villa is like Le God to us at his peak. Can’t think of too many similar examples of players reaching that level over the years. Would you take the club legend route or take a chance at the very top?
Are there any Vestergaard rumours? There doesn’t seem to be any Spurs interest - or at least he is well down their list. They are signing Romero and Tomiyasu from Serie A. Would they really sign 3 centre backs in one window? I forget but don’t they only play with two? Although they seem to want rid of Sanchez which would leave them with Rodon and Dier plus new signings I always assumed the Vestergaard rumours were more of a Mourinho interest than a Spurs interest
Absolutely agree. The thought of this terrifies me. There's a big difference going up against (insert Swansea/Cardiff winger here) in a non-pressure situation, compared to the likes of Salah and Sancho when it actually counts.
If Vestergaard stays, we have the option of using Salisu at left back if Perraud gets injured/needs time to settle. Plus if we then got a backup RB, who can also play on the left (Williams or another), then I don’t think we would really need to get a left back. We could manage and use the funds elsewhere.
The last line sounds familiar. Levy: “Look lads, I know you want €50m, but he really wants to join us so just accept our offer of €40m would you?”
Crazy what happens when a side like Atalanta stick there head above the parapet. It gets blown off. Similar to when we had our hot spells but they actually made the champions league They appear to have lost the goalie who started the majority of their games *On loan*. To Spurs. Are their finances screwed or something? How does that happen? And is Lloris finally going to be displaced? I’d be surprised Now I don’t understand if this was their plan - they wanted the new goalie they signed and freed up space. It is still interesting though
Never heard any inside info in my life but I work with a villa fan who is related to their ,manager Dean Smith, so thought I’d share what he told me. (I know he is as he’s shown me family party pictures etc) Villa thought they could get JWP on the cheap and to appease Grealish into signing a new contract by rocking the boat with a £25 million bid. Southampton were pretty offended by this, and told them £15 million per year of his remaining contract £60 million in total. This was before the news broke that Villa were to accept a bid for Grealish. This then put the asking price up for an enquiry on Cantwell, which he thinks they will pursue as Southampton would now ask for more. Feel there’s a bit to play out still as there’s a feeling Southampton do need the money?? There you go.
