It's amazing this new concept of pressing the ball. When I started watching football many many moons ago, it was called standing your ground and tackling to get the ball back! How times have changed but it's better than retreating and letting the player run at you with the ball
Thing I like about that goal is once Embleton received the ball he only had one thing on his mind, drive forward got his head up saw Stewart's movement and picked him out quickly before their defence could react. More goals like this please.
It is amazing how we come up with new words for old things in footy (me included) The dutch 74 side were masters at it and lo and behold cruyff teaches pep and pep invents the high press! Not too much changes does it. Mind you nice to see us doing it well and being on the front foot. Funnily enough it was what Pep congratulated Johnson on - his front foot style of play.
No the great Dutch team invented Total Football , how they didn’t win the World Cup we will never know , they were a great side orchestrated by Cruyff .
Give Patterson a chance, I think he is the best keeper on the clubs books, and so far so good, he will learn quickly if given the chance, certainly buy better if we can, but its not a priority imo. He like Dan Neil was along with Embleton and Diamond as good if not better than those persevered with last season, we have to back our U23's as they have been great so far, Younger needs a mention here too, so far he has been marginalised to our cost, he is yet to appear in his correct position in which he excels at U23 level. His block last night was the turning point as Hull were looking to go on and win the game, but it has to my knowledge never been mentioned, yet it was as vital to the cause as was the goal, which was another highlight for me it was far from the easy finish described by some.

The crowd sound a lot louder on that video than when I was watching the live stream. Was there much singing in the East Stand?
Patterson does need to chill a bit with flying off his line, I'd guess he's being over zealous carrying out Johnson's instructions about being proactive. He probably knows him and Burge are neck and neck and he's trying to impress the boss. O'Nien was like that and he turned out ok. I'd rather have a young player eager to impress and take instruction than one who thinks they know it all.
Certainly did mate and they were a joy to watch. When they lost it though they were known for pressing like mad to get it back. It was something Michels had done with Ajax and when he came in to the national team he brought it. What a side.
Really enjoyed the Ross interview, thanks for that mate its appreciated, look forward to your next instalment for the next match, im getting happier as each match passes
Pick ford came off his line too early too. Think some younger keepers do it. He looks to have basics just need to be patient with him.
Just watched the highlights and Patterson looked ok. Bit “too keen” at times. The one where he was miles out if his box first half was a bit of a nightmare moment. He had no reason to be there! There was another too where he was too far out. A better striker would likely have scored. May come with game time though. Agree totally about Grigg’s goal. Was a very good and brave finish. Not seen the younger challenge so can’t comment but agree he needs utilising properly.
