I can’t understand how a club who have recently been in administration (twice I think) can splash the amount of money they have. Their business model must be interesting!
Looks like they are banking on going up this season. Could end up in disaster if they don’t. Mind, I thought they were one of the better teams we played last season, so I don’t think they will be far off.
Does anyone remember a year or two ago, the time that he had a shaved head, I can't remember if it was preseason or what but there were a couple of games where he was a different player. He was quick and sharp, closed down from the front for the full 90 and looked as fit as a butcher's dog. It was a drop in the ocean in terms of his time at Sunderland but it showed there is a player in there. Doubt Wigan or any other team will see that again but for a brief moment in time I thought he was mint.
Get crosses into the box and he'll get a few. Humphrys will do better. Think power wil do well as he's been there before and will feel at home. Maybe he knew were too big a club for him. Amos very decent for this league too.
We should know exactly how to stop him and Power doing anything. I'd wager our teenage centre half won't break a sweat keeping him out of the game.
Am I making it up when I say that he didn’t take a penalty in the shoot out against Lincoln last season?
He got crocked by one of the worst fouls in history by a keeper. Not even a free kick yet it was a red card offence!! That set him back and he ever looked the same player since
Realistically they probably have as he would have been able to demand higher wages with coming on a free, so overall he will cost them a few bob for what I suspect will be little in return
No you're not making it up. Doesn't surprise me he didn't take one. Lots of strikers of his type don't hit a dead ball well.
Hes 29 mate and last season was the only decent season hes had in his life. Hes never played above League 1 in his career and theres a reason for that. His highest ever goal scoring season in the league before last was 13. Its fairly annoying losing him for nothing, but i think him leaving will make us a better team instead of a one trick pony playing hoof ball
Agreed. I sang and will continue to sing his praises. He was superb for us last season. That is that his goal return was way above anything any of us expected. He occasionally looked unplayable. He mostly looked like a league 1 striker. If Stewart scores 30 one touch goals this season I’ll be happy. But I also think he looks a much better all around footballer than Wyke. Better on the ball, better in the air and better without the ball. He might be hitting his prime and be about to have a few good seasons. I won’t be booing him next weekend as I have no reason to. He’ll get an applause from me. My biggest worry is that all those little jiggly fouls ye was getting nothing for last season will be free kicks next weekend!
I respect Wyke aswell mate, for 900k he more than returned his fee to us last season, its just a shame the rest of the team couldn't contribute in a similar manner to what he did. To score that many goals for a team and not get promoted very rarely happens.
He is utter dog ****, unless it bounces off him he doesnt score, no control, no pace, weak as piss, unless its on his head 3 yards out with a **** defender on him, he is rubbish, not get 10 this season
