Hi guys. I'll update the Men's team tables either very late this evening or tomorrow morning. Will take me a while to get home after the game ends... UP THE ADDICKS!
Curiously, Charlton had just four subs on the bench for this match. I wonder if that is partly down to the COVID outbreak in the squad. Coventry United only had five substitutes on their bench. So I am not certain if seven subs are allowed on the bench, as with men's football. I cannot think of an obvious reason why it should not be so. Apologies that certain match stats are not filled in at this time. The official CAFC match report does not include details of possession, shots, or who the referee was. I usually get that information for the men's matches from the BBC Sport website. But I searched the BBC and Sky Sports websites and could not find the missing information. If anybody knows an online source where these details can be found please let me know. I will update the match report with the missing information as soon as I have it. Regards, Lardy
Additional note: Elise Hughes was not named among Charlton's starting XI according to the CAFC website. But they only named ten starting players, so I have assumed Hughes did start, and the omission is an error. At present I have no information about another player starting the match in Hughes' place.
Until this match I was not aware that the women's teams could have 8 substitutes on the bench. Both Charlton Athletic and Bristol City had 8 substitutes for this match. Also, the attendance is perhaps a bit disappointing considering there were hopes that some Charlton fans who usually watch the men's team might make the journey to support the women during the international break weekend. Still, it is what it is. Well done to all the Charlton fans who do go along to support the CAFC Women's team.
