Good Morning. It's Monday 2nd August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Doig on the move, destination unknown

North of the border, speculation is mounting regarding Hibs starlet Josh Doig. The news comes after the 19yo was left out of their squad that won at Motherwell yesterday prompting speculation that their prized asset was on the move!

Various reports suggest that both Arsenal and Leeds have agreed to meet Hibs asking price of 5m, whilst many others have been credited with taking an interest in the central defender.

    Traore turns down Leeds

Sunday Times and Daily Record sports journalist Duncan Castles has revealed that Wolves powerhouse Adama Traore has snubbed a move to Elland Road following a 30m offer from the Whites. Sources claim that the 25yo rejected the offer as he was it as a sideways move!

Victor Orta is a long term admirer of Traore. He once describing him as the 'most exciting prospect now in Spain' during his (Traore) time with Barcelona. Orta signed Traore from Villa back in 2016 when Director of football with Middlesbrough

Castles said: “The offer I’m told Wolves had proposed to them by another Premier League club was from Leeds United.

“They were prepared to pay an initial £30m for Adama Traore who is a player who is well known to the director of football Victor Orta, who signed him from Aston Villa when he was in charge of Middlesbrough a few years back.

“My guidance is that Adama is not interested in moving there [Leeds United] and, rather than making a sideways move in the Premier League, he wants to move to a club with Champions League or a very realistic chance of reaching the Champions League soon.

“He is under contract until 2023. We’ve been stating for months now on this podcast that he has been effectively placed on the market by Wolves. “He is one of the players they feel they can raise significant cash from in this window in order to reinvest in the team.

“My guidance on this was Wolves were interested in this offer. We’re getting a sense of how much they’d be willing to sell the player for. They’re in a difficult position because they need to do a deal in this window to maximise income on the player.

“They’ve had talks about extending his contract which haven’t gone very far. The offers they made to Adama weren’t anywhere near what he’d consider a realistic offer to stay at Wolves. “So I think they’ll be pushing to try and get a deal elsewhere.

“Pay a little bit of attention to what Tottenham do in that area of the field. Nuno Espirito Santo was impressed and enjoyed working with him. I don’t think he’d be against working with him again if the opportunity was to arise. “Tottenham have the potential to take a lot of income in this transfer window. They’re trying to do a radical change of their squad in this transfer window.”

Having registered two goals and three assists last season, have Leeds had a lucky escape?

    Disappointing pre season continuous

Successive losses against Fleetwood Town and Real Betis over the weekend had many Leeds fans on social media questioning the teams readiness when they face Manchester Utd at Old Trafford in less than a fortnight. To make matters worse, injuries to Llorente, Struijk and a covid related lay off for Cooper will only hamper their preparations to wipe the slate clean against Ajax on Wednesday evening, in their final game before the seasons opener.

Would it would be fair to say that last season Leeds gained a massive advantage over many of their rivals due to their superior fitness? Have we are seen this this during pre season (They have only had a six week break).
We know these are 'only' pre season games, but they are also 'only' pre season games for our opposition!

Morning all. I really hope we didn't put a bid in for Traore, he's not a headless chicken, he's a headless turkey.
I don't care about pre season, As long as we don't carry injuries into the sason it's job done. I would guess that Bielsa would much prefer working with the squad rather than playing pre season games.
Am I right that the results in his first pre season with us were terrible?
I can't wait for this season. I'd like to see some of the kids you guys are pushing get a chance. I'd like to see us have a run in the cups and I hope we can compete for a European place. Fingers crossed

    Morning,

Adama Traore = deluded twat. In any case, no way would we have offered anywhere near £30m for the lump, essentially a headless chicken with muscles.

Bielsa is far too meticulous in his preparations to leave anything to chance - we'll be more than ready.

Traore was valued last Summer at £70m and Liverpool were supposed to be chasing him but declined that fee. He cant even get a regular start for a poor Wolves last season, so hardly a worldy. Wolves have had our pants down twice before with Douglas and Costa so no chance

Watford are said to be favs to sign Doig but why would you go there if you are ambitious?

Friendlies are either just a training exercise and used to get a bit of match fitness, or they turn out not to be friendly at all like the Betis match. Betis played Derby last week and they cant even put out a full team but they beat Betis, but dont suppose their fans are crying about it. The Betis team we faced was pumped for action and wasnt a friendly simply because we had 2 South American coaches with a reputation. One is Chilean and wanted to beat the Argentine who is seen as a hero in Chile. Junior Firpo played for Betis before going to Barcelona and some Betis players wanted to show him he had chosen the wrong team. We had 2 players injured in this FRIENDLY and we still have another two to do so hope we recover before the Man Utd match

    Morning all,

Really not bothered about friendly results. Have we ever had good friendly results under Bielsa?

Doig might be a good player but I can't see us investing money in another cb especially after not letting Cresswell go out on loan. I think we are fully covered in that position.

I also don't believe we have been in for Traore this summer at all. We may have looked last year but I think that ship sailed, especially at that price.

None of our pre seasons under Bielsa have been good, so why should this one be any different, and why should anyone be concerned about it. The only team we have beaten under Bielsa with any type of pedigree is Las Palmas, a Spanish second division side. Given how our season's have progressed, I take performances in friendlies, good or bad, as a pinch of salt

17/07/18 CLF Forest Green Rovers 1 - 2 Leeds United
    19/07/18 CLF York City 1 - 1 Leeds United
    22/07/18 CLF Southend United 1 - 1 Leeds United
    24/07/18 CLF Oxford United 4 - 3 Leeds United
    26/07/18 CLF Guiseley 3 - 4 Leeds United
    29/07/18 CLF Leeds United 1 - 0 Las Palmas
    10/07/19 CLF York City 0 - 5 Leeds United
    11/07/19 CLF Guiseley 1 - 2 Leeds United
17/07/19 CLF Manchester United 4 - 0 Leeds United View events
20/07/19 CLF Western Sydney Wanderers 1 - 2 Leeds United
    27/07/19 CLF Cagliari 1 - 1 Leeds United

Speculation by Duncan castles enough said lol.
I love the way he made a story from a story clever.
End of the day Traore the only reason he wouldn't come to Leeds is because he can't do the work. He's lightning fast yes. he's physical yes. but he ain't a work horse he's not lazy but he's an individual something Beilsa doesn't like . Had a quick look on a wolves forum and they say they are surprised we are after him for the same reasons he won't track back and won't do the off the ball work he wants the ball and runs.
Pre season is pre season totally agree with first poster object everyone to be match fit and come back injury free is what we looking for. That's what we are doing
We will be spot on for the scum game we have no worries we have God in charge.

I remember Roofe scored with about 5 minutes to go, that's about all I can recall.

Team that played against Las Palmas July 2018

Leeds: Peacock-Farrell, Ayling, Berardi, Cooper, Dallas, Phillips, Vieira (Baker 45) (Shackleton 88), Alioski (Roberts 64), Saiz (Klich 45), Hernandez, Roofe. Subs not used: Blackman, Huffer, Pearce, Clarke.

10 of those players appeared in the premier league for us last season, and 7 will probably make an appearance this season to.

The thing with Traore is that he does look dangerous when he comes on for the last 15 minutes against a tiring defence. But that's all he's good for - probably worth £5m tops for his super sub value. May as well use Summerville for that.

Anyone with just a little knowledge of how Bielsa sets his teams up and likes his players to operate can see someone like Traore wouldn't fit the bill.

    Castles knows zilch.

Agree mate he's a good player but does he fit into our system? I think not.
Alot of players won't come to Leeds not because it's Leeds but because of the workload I've read many articles from players saying I couldn't play in that Leeds team wow.
We work the bollicks off everyone in training and in games. Don't do your shift you will be told.
Not saying the lad can't change but he is a big lad to be running all game up and down a pitch

    Duncan Castles- Next Weeks headline:

Traore refuses to to go to Leeds because they are transphobic

Makes as much sense as everything he has ever written

Without further strengthening, I don't think we'll get as many points as last year. I think the teams that came up are better than those that went down - we took a lot of points off those relegated clubs. Everton will be tougher. I'm not sure some of the players will maintain last year's phenomenal standards. I don't think we'll go down but bottom half finish is a real possibility.

Yep. I laughed at an interview with Jonjo Shelvey, in the end he told the interviewer he said to Rodrigo to “just stop running”

Nope, the players with strike through marks weren't at the club last season. The players in bold are still at the club, and the 3 in normal text are the ones who have left following the end of the season, hence why I referred to 10 of those players in that team playing for us in the premier League, and 7 (those in bold text) likely to play this season else both Berardi and Pablo would need strike through marks too;)

    Afternoon all:emoticon-0148-yes:

Traore is big no no, don't have the engine to be in a Bielsa team. And to be honest I don't think we have ever been after him this window.

I don't understand why we have not replaced Saiz and Pablo. The team is screaming out for a creative central midfielder. Considering how wasteful Bamford is in front of goal, we need to be creating sheitloads of chances:emoticon-0148-yes:

So fare this transfer window has been disappointing:emoticon-0148-yes:
