It would be odd for the lad to have spent so much time up here for it not to be a goer mate so fingers crossed that we can get this one and hopefully FB & CH sorted soon.
It's a tough one that. Because I'm not sure we can guarantee he will be our main striker? Stewart is doing well and was obviously planned to be as we invested in him. And the formation we are using which is doing well is lending itself to two wide midfielders cutting in. Jebbison would obviously likely play most games, but might not start, or at least that is not guaranteed. I guess it depends if the likes of Burton are telling him he would be THE guy for them. Might explain why the number 9 is free. We may be "wooing" him by saying the 9 shirt is yours if you sign. Doesn't mean much to most people, but to an 18 year old wanting to make a name, it might mean a hell of a lot.
yeh sure I read at the time it said he had played there a bit at Tranmere(?) hence looking to move there potentially at Wigan.
This is the thing, it doesn't matter to him or his club how big we are compared to the other clubs in for him. If the other clubs can guarantee more game time he'll go somewhere else.
I thought that would be the case. Doncaster have just had two forwards ruled out for a few months each. They still have Bogle and a young lad on loan from Watford (also 18) but Wellens likes to play two up top. I'm guessing they could well be seeing him as a starter. Here he's going to be competing with Stewart for one spot you'd assume..
Can't say I'm a fan of guaranteed minutes. Surely they would prefer the kid to get the minutes by having the correct fighting spirit, motivation and aging well to get into the team. Wonder if Man City have done similar with Doyle.
I don't think it will be about what the lad wants. It will be about what Sheffield Utd want and where they think their asset will be best developed.
You can't knock the lad if that's the case, he is going out on loan to play not to sit on the bench and wait for 20 minutes here and there. If we are serious about him, which we obviously are, we need to sign him and play him pretty much week in and out otherwise I could understand him going elsewhere.
I wouldn't knock the lad regardless as I don't think he'll have a massive say in the matter if Sheff Utd have a stand out preference of where they want to send him.
I reckon it will be a bit of both. Sheff Utd will obviously have final say, but they won't send him where he doesn't want to go, and they'll definitely take his preferences into account
Aye, I agree. I would still think that if Sheffield Utd considered us not to be an option due to, say, finances or guaranteed minutes then it wouldn't matter if he was absolutely desperate to play here, it wouldn't happen.
Personally I'm not a fan of "guaranteed minutes". Not saying a player would be, but if that's the terms put forward by the loaning club, then if said player has a dip in form, isn't trying or has a rubbish attitude in general and still guaranteed his minutes, the situation could well back fire. Alas, I'm sure this won't be the case.
Well he would be guaranteed minutes If he did the business However how can you guarantee anything We say that yeah we will guarantee you minuets Then he turns out to be crap What happens then
Have to agree with this. Surely the point of a loan, especially with a young player, should be that he works hard in training to be able to put himself into a position where he is either on the bench or is good enough to at least start a game. The player then learns the ropes of being a professional footballer and the club loaning him should get a better player back
With Sunderland letting so many high earners go there must be spare funds available within our budget to have the best financial loan offer for Jebbison, the footballing positives for the lad are just the icing on the cake.
I suppose it depends on where the lad can play. If it's anywhere across an attacking three he'll get more games than if he's a centre forward only.
I'm not sure if the talk of 'guaranteed minutes' is a bit of a misnomer. I would have thought it would be more a case of the clubs interested presenting their cause to Sheffiled Utd and explaining how they envisage the lad being used, who he'd be competing with for game time etc. If you said 'we've got these six strikers that we'd like the lad to compete for one spot with' then they'd probably rightly tell you to do one. It's about giving them the relevant information for them to gauge how many opportunities for minutes he's likely to get rather than them saying he must start etc.
Being said on a sheff Utd fan account that Jebbison is having a medical at Doncaster, no way to tell if it’s reliable
