Tom’s first yard is in his head, he might not be the quickest but how many times do you see him give the ball away or get caught out. Not many as I remember
Back when he played for us, one thing that was barely mentioned... When he made a tackle, which he often did, he'd stay on his feet, which gave him and the team a very obvious advantage.
I'm not too concerned with Tom being too slow, he always was! I'm way more concerned with him not having a club for the last year and why Derby didn't keep him. I'm also not sure what he has left at this level, he's got all the technical skill in the world but there's far more to the Championship
I think it's fair to say that having someone of Tom's ability and experience around the place will do more good then harm, his skill sets and vision will rub off on the younger element, and his presence will lift them. However I recall his latter stages at the club and how teams worked him out, press him and he was left wanting. He would be an excellent addition to have on the bench, but as a starting place, I suspect those days have gone. If it was down to me certainly offer him a coaching role and register him for when and if he is needed.
Can't see it not being him Not saying I stalked him or anything...... But the last 3 people he followed on Instagram are......
We do we think Tom’s wage expectations will be? 7k week??? Maybe less, it’s just a guess. What’s our wage limit now He’s been unemployed for a year
It might be that if we dangle the carrot of first steps into coaching/ management then the wages as such wouldn't be a problem, I'm sure the lad has made his money in the game already and won't ever be skint.
I read somewhere he has a fair few properties so doesn’t sound like he’s short of a Bob especially as at the moment it sounds like bricks and mortar is the game to be in….
If you see my previous posts i have reservations about both of them. Get slater in then with Smallwood and pehaps Tom as well then we probably have enough. I dont see Tom as likely to be a key player though - nowt to do with technical ability, but due to age and fitness.
