Good Morning. It's Tuesday 3rd August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds firm favourites to land Traore

Despite Adama Traore apparently turning down a move to Elland Road, Sky Bet have slashed their odds of signing the Wolves powerhouse to 2/1 with Spurs at 4/1, Chelsea 7/1 and Liverpool 8/1.

The 25yo has two years left on his contract, but has refused a new deal at Molineux prompting the Midland side to cash in whilst the goings good!

    Leeds join hunt for Asensio

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Leeds are one of three Premier league clubs who have made a formal offer for Real Madrid's Marco Asensio.

Since taking the reigns in early June, Carlo Ancelotti has had to make some difficult decisions, no more so than telling Asensio he does not have a future at the Bernabeu! This has sparked a frenzy with more than half a dozen Premiership teams alone being credited with taking a close interest in the 25yo.

The Spanish International has 25 caps to his name, and is currently representing his Country at the Tokyo Olympics where his performances have been labelled below par. His form has certainly dropped in the past couple of seasons, prompting Ancelotti to cash in on the winger!

Multiple reports suggest that Asensio is Bielsa's back up, still maintaining that Adama Traore is their main Summer target!

    Changes in VAR

Premier League officials have been told not to penalise "trivial things" during a recent meeting relating to changes in VAR. Referees are under orders not to give away soft free kicks or penalties where minimal contact is made.

    Chief referee Mike Riley explains:

"Contact on its own is only part of the what referees should look for," "They should also ask themselves if the contact has a consequence, and then if the player used that contact to try and win a foul or a penalty.

"It's not sufficient just to say: 'Yes, there's contact.' I think, partly, we got into that frame of mind by the forensic analysis that went into VAR awards. "If you've got clear contact that has a consequence, that's what you've got to penalise. If you've any doubt in those elements, you're less likely to be penalised.

"I think it moves the dial back towards where we were in a pre-VAR world. We don't want trivial things penalised."

For the forthcoming season offside decisions, and handball have been amended.

Referees will be assessing the hand or arm position in relation to body movement, and whether the opposing players body has been made unnaturally bigger!

Regarding offside, the attacking side will now get the benefit of the doubt, obviously leading to more goals!

"The toenails and noses that might have been offside last year won't be next season," "We will carry on following the same process as last year, so you'll apply the pixel lines, place the attacking line and defending line on top, and then the thicker broadcast lines. But where they overlap those, situations will now be deemed as onside."

Lines being drawn on screens as VAR reaches its offside decisions will not be visible. Instead, viewers will only be shown how the conclusion was reached.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Not getting involved in the Traore debate again because it wont happen and he aint good enough to get in our team if he cant get in a poor Wolves team.

The bigger news today is about our keepers because as I said a couple of weeks ago we must either be getting rid of Ellia Caprile or have involved him in planning for Klaesson arriving. Well Caprile has just been awarded a 2 year contract extension so must be happy about his role in the club

Speaking of Ajax it seems we are taking the U23s over too as they play behind closed doors against Ajax U23s before the first teams take to the field at 7:00 our time

Our U23 players will be having more minutes on the pitch than the first team. That says to me that our U23s are very very important to Bielsa and he values their development. He could also be making his mind up about certain players and will they fit into the first team?

We have never before in pre-season played games using the 23s like this season. Games we would have used the first team in have been 23s. Guisley and Fleetwood and now a propper match against a top academy team in Europe who have produced some if the worlds best players

Afternoon all, I’m very surprised we haven’t brought anyone to fill a midfield slot. When you think of the players we were supposedly buying, the near signing that failed a medical last season and all the linked names this season it makes you wonder what went wrong.

Kemar Roofe left a couple of seasons ago and Augustin and Nketiah never worked out. When we signed Rodrigo it evened us out again in attack but we’ve now lost Pablo, we’ve also lost two years of Forshaw, we’ve really been a classy midfield player short for two seasons now.

Brentford have agreed a fee with FC Midtjylland for the services of Jens Cajuste, who Crystal Palace and Leeds were keen on.

The owner of Brentford also own FC Midtjylland!

    Double Dutch

Leeds United are scheduled to play their latest pre-season friendly tomorrow evening against Dutch champions AFC Ajax.

The Whites will travel to Amsterdam in what is currently their only overseas pre-season run-out, following their defeat to Real Betis at Loughborough University Stadium last weekend.
In a surprise turn of events, the Dutch side have announced a further clash that will see Leeds United's U23s play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against another Ajax side.

Mark Jackson's U23 team are likely to face Jong Ajax - the Dutch club's U21 team, which plays in the country's second tier - at 13:45 CET/12:45 BST on Wednesday afternoon.

Then, later that day, Marcelo Bielsa's first-team will go up against Erik ten Hag's senior Ajax squad at the Amsterdam ArenA at 20:00 CET/19:00 BST

    Afternoon all,

Would have been on here earlier but been throwing up all day looking at the love in on twitter between leeds and villa fans.

Apparently their is mutual respect between the two fan bases for some reason. Personally I hope they are relegated by Xmas and Smith is out of a job before the clocks go back.

It is seeming more and more likely that Lewis O’Brien is wanted by Bielsa, Huddersfield want £10m I don’t think that’s too bad, we could get that down to £7m with add ons. I still wouldn’t rule out a move for James either.
