Phil Hay sets the record straight on Brien and Traore

Phil Hay has disclosed that Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O'Brien is firmly on Bielsa's radar. The news comes after the 65yo Argentine was spotted at a pre season Yorkshire derby between Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday! The exciting 22yo has been slapped was a 10m asking price since interest from their neighbours!

The former Chief football writer for the YEP also rubbished the rumours that the Whites were interested in Wolves flop Amama Traore

Expect to see a Llorente / Cooper partnership in defence

Rumours of Liam Cooper's absence being linked to Covid may be far off the mark after Phil Hay disclosed that the Leeds skipper had been suffering from 'a couple of knocks' The 29yo was also spotted on Sunday enjoying a round of golf!!! The good news is he should be ready to take his place in central defence a week on Sunday alongside Llorente!

Where does this leave Koch, and especially Struijk? Has Koch slipped down the pecking order? Do you think he struggled last season?

Leeds have been linked with a host of wingers this Summer, yet many of these stories have turned out to be wide of the mark. Now, Phil Hay has put pen to paper to expose Leeds likely targets!

Other reports suggest the Whites have lost interest in Danish winger Mikkel Damsgaard.

The 21-year-old gave a great account of himself at the Euro's attracting a host of European clubs, including Aston Villa and Tottenham. Initially, the Scandinavian's price tag stood at €25m. This rose to €30, and now stands at €35. Whilst Leeds are not hunting in the bargain basement, they won't overpay for a player.

Where does this leave Helder Costa? Valencia have firm interest in the Angolan player, but will not be allowed to leave unless the Whites can bring in a replacement! Should Leeds sign another winger, should we expect Raphinha to play a more central role?

Fellow Brazilian Matheus Pereira has also been tipped with a move to West Yorkshire this Summer. Yesterday he announced on twitter that he wants to leave the Hawthorns. For some reason the Baggies fans have not taken to kindly to this!

West Ham are keen to him to East London, yet if the reports are true, Pereira would prefer a move to Elland Road. I guess the Bielsa / Raphinha connection is an attractive proposition!

Based on what I’ve seen of them I’d say Pereira would be the best one for our system.

So if we can afford him, and Bielsa wants him, he’d be a great addition imo.

 

I agree with this, except he has already had a life changing offer from some other club. Thats what he said the other day which means it will be West Ham or abroad as we havent spoken to him or his club.

 

One thing that Phil Hay did say, is that Parker down at Bournemouth wants Shackelton on loan as well as Davies. Suits me as I cannot see him getting many more minutes than last season

 

Fair enough, although only those who need to know would actually know if we’ve spoken to them. And life changing could mean anything. Maybe doubling his WBA wages would be life changing for him.

Isn’t Pereira an attacking midfielder anyway which is the where Rodrigo, Roberts and Klich can all play plus Greenwood and Gelhardt. I think we’ll sort a CM in the next couple of weeks and I honestly think a winger will come in very late in the window and it’ll depend on the situation of the clubs we’re chasing, who is willing to sell and who they see as best value rather than getting stitched up.

Out of the list, I hope we get whoever is first choice. Bielsa had an entire season watching James he was the player he wanted and nearly got so why would he no longer want him?

Man U fans on Twitter all seem to agree they want James to stay but maybe not start, if you look at the Bielsa effect through our entire team I’m sure he’d work his magic with James.

We were lucky with Raphinha he hit the ground running but many foreign players struggle over here at first, Rodrigo the latest example. If we’re going to get one from the list it would be my preference to shorten it down to those with PL experience

From this point I think Kent/James coming in with the lad from Huddersfield would be a successful transfer window.

I know a lot of twitter fans are underwhelmed by O Brien but I think they forget that most of this squad and a lot of the first team from last season were all championship players Bielsa worked his magic on, no rain he can't do it again.

From what I've seen, we aren't playing well. 2 down.

Phillips tired, Forshaw just not good enough, Cooper tiring and playing at LB, Drameh and Kris Moore doing well and the other CB Kenneh doing ok except for slipping along with Cooper which gifted them the first. Poveda doing ok but Costa not very good. Roberts hardly in it and Sam Greenwood not seeing the ball. Another mix up at the back for their 2nd. Ajax well on top and we are wasting possession and Bielsa is raving mad watching this.

Jenkins in place of Forshaw please and lets have a look at Summerville and Miller

 

Summerville on, Max Dean on, Liam McCarron to replace Cooper at LB. Poveda gone to RW in place of Costa, Jenkins and Charlie Allen on too
