Think he asked his agent for a move as we refused to increase his £50k a week deal, for parity with Gyan, 1 year into his 4 year deal

 

After Bent was transferred to Villa both Quinney and Bruce accused Villa of tapping him up. As, by then, there was no love lost, you would have thought they would have mentioned such an attempt at forcing a pay increase?

 

While he was here he repeatedly talked to the press about becoming a legend here, how fantastic an area it is, how he wished to become some sort of ambassador for the area to highlight it to any any players looking to join us from any where else.. the reality was behind the scenes he tried to engineer a move to Turkey in the summer before he moved. Then downed tools once Villa showed an interest, travelled away and holed up until the deal was done.

 

I remember hearing that about him trying to get a transfer to Turkey. It was that he'd heard a rumour that Fenerbace were interested in him so he put in a transfer request to force it, but there wasn't much real interest on their part. He was also supposed to have not been happy that he didn't get the captain's armband and had his nose pushed out of joint when Gyan joined and became the big name instead of him.

He's just a piece of ****, he's left every club he's played for under a cloud, it didn't take long for Villa fans to turn on him when he thought Liverpool were interested in him. Being spotted shopping instead of being at Villa Park for a match didn't go down well. Seems he's pushing this out to paint him in a better light fir his media career as he can't get a coaching job

 

I'd always thought there was actually more to it that what was reported, but basically in his owns words there wasn't, he's just a greedy twat.
He loved it at Sunderland and had a great relationship with the supporters so when he was asked if he fancied going to Villa his answer should have been **** off.
He had just gotten back in to the England squad banging goals in for us.
It's a shame his career went down the pan once he left us, that's what the greedy twat deserved

 

I wonder if he'd make different decisions now given how it all panned out.

Could have been a legend here, now he's a nobody anywhere.

Bloke uses his position on talkSPORT to have a moan and dig at us whenever he can. He said about 6 months ago when we signed Gyan and Welbeck, he was like "what's wrong with me?". He failed to mention we signed Gyan because of his second attempt to get more money to go and play in Turkey. Club told him to jog on, we needed a replacement and then he changed his mind. He came here for 18 months to get a "bigger" club.

 

Why wouldn't we sign competition for his place even if he was as settled/wanting to be a legend he told the fans he was, the club would still want to have competition in Welbeck and as far as I recall Gyan played with him?
