again, i cannot blame you there...for an auld bassa i think i have a decent grip on all this social media bollox, i understand we all see things differently and can accept a difference of opinion, as the famous saying goes, opinions are like @rseholes, we all have one... and the typed word holds no emotion, so can be quite hard at times to put points over...which i think is why i tend to 'overdo' my replies at times to try to fully explain what i feel.

I do often feel like leaving this place most of the time but i keep getting drawn back.
Lifes stressful enough really to be battling with strangers on an Internet forum.
I just love my club and these last 5 years have been hard to comprehend really. Id love to be positive but i find it hard after seeing the shyte thats been on display with players not even giving a to$$ about us fans or us as a club and the managers weve had. Dont even get me started on the ownership weve had over these last few years aswell

mate, i know exactly where you are coming from and believe me, if it was not for dropping down dead and realising life is just too short and precious to get upset about stuff we have no control over i would possibly have a slightly different way of looking at things.

there is not a single supporter does not feel the same, any true fan feels the same pain you are but we have to have our hope that things are going to improve...we just need to breathe, sit back and chill as the only people who can make a difference (and imho, will) are the new regime and while most of us agree the window has not been great and i guess we all hold that bit of a worry that 'this is it' we also hold onto the fact the window has a way to go yet and things could and i think will change for the better.

    KTF ;)

ps: dont be leaving, we all need to vent somewhere and until people can get back to the games and call the ref bad names, we will need sites like this.

My mistake, I thought the new owner had money.

Btw I’m not asking for millions upon millions, but if this guy hasn’t got the finances to get us out of league 1, why is he here?

So far it’s been the same transfer strategy as last season:

Free transfers, usually past their peak. And loans.

It’s blatantly obvious we need a keeper, we haven’t got one.

We currently only have an unproven striker at this level, and one that doesn’t want to be here.

No adequate LB at the club? No adequate RM?

Centre of defence doesn’t look too clever, unless Wright goes back to his previous form and stays injury free, but no one proven to partner him.

At the moment we are no where near the automatic spots.

If we sign 3-5 players from now until the window closes I’ll hold my hands up.

    Here’s hoping.

He's probably realized that plenty of teams get promoted out of this division without spending a lot, and it's more important to get the right player than to get whoever you can get to appease the signing junkies who'll only whinge about it anyway, and then demand more **** signings.

This is the same shyte time after time mate.

People are basing entire arguments on nothing.

Top people have left their jobs to come to SAFC, do you think they'd risk their livelihoods because KLD has a nice smile and a pair of sunglasses <doh>

I get the impression some of the support would much rather sign ten **** players than one good one. It's crackers.

No mate, spending money on hastily scouted players has always worked in the past ...

... and it's always placated the supporters for the whole season hasn't it <laugh>

I think this has been, by far the worst pre-season that i can remember in terms of people moaning and making up false stories.

I get that the trust between the fans and the club has been broken over recent years, but anyone with half a brain can see that KLD means business. He's spent the last 6 months fixing the damage Stewart Donald caused with his penny-pinching.

Getting the right recruitment is key and if this Spurs lad is anything to go by then I'd rather we take that approach all day long instead of the usual "let's see who's free...." approach taken by Ross and Parkinson

Opinions are like arseholes in that we all have them. I disagree with lots of people about football and many other subjects, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t like them. I argue and strongly disagree with many of my best mates about politics but at the end of the day I still love them to bits.

First post from a supporter in exile for last 25 years. My own take on the transfer situation.
What I hope is happening is the club has a plan for each and every player from academy through to first 11. That will be how fast the player will develop, their ultimate potential and how to get them there. That maps across to what the first team will need over the next 5 years or so. You bring in loans to plug short term gaps while our own younger players go out on loan at a lower level and make permanent buys where there are clear gaps. All pretty obvious stuff but there seems to be a lot of focus from folk on just that first 11. To be sustainable the whole pipeline from academy to first team needs managed closely. The earlier you bring someone in to the structure then the better value it is. A 17 year old kid that gets 2-3 years development is a hell of a lot cheaper that a 25 year old first team player. That’s what sustainable means for me. It’s just going to take time to fill all the gaps.
Other side is what is our advantage being in league one? We are at a lower level so can get loans from premier league academies. Also those academies will in some areas have more players than the first teams need. In league one we can get away with not having much experience if they have the talent e.g. Sanderson, Doyle. The hard bit is spotting who those players are and getting hold of them. The club seem to be working pretty hard on this and looks promising so far.
Don’t think the club are being tight but being smart in how they spend. That leaves the finances to plug the big first team gaps when the right player is available. If you get it right you don’t need to spend millions on every transfer, just one or two every window. Bring the wrong players in and they block up the whole pipeline from youth to first team and cost you a fortune in the process, god knows we have enough examples of those in the last decade.
I’m impressed with our business so far but like others really need to see the right players come in over the next couple of weeks to back that up. Keeping the faith.

Good post mate, can't find much wrong with what you're saying.

As you say we need a good and regular supply ...

... not rushing round the supermarket when it's 5 minutes from closing time.

Welcome to the madhouse mate and well said. The club is turning around and there's no way on God's earth that can be achieved in six months. It took Wolves/Southampton/Sheff Utd etc. years to get it right and there is absolutely nothing to suggest we can, or will, circumvent that process. Some people seem to forget that our CURRENT ownership hasn't been here during the disastrous Donald/Methven era and seem to want to equate KLDs ownership over a 3-4 year period. If we have to wait for the right players, right Academy set-up and right philosophy to be established, then so be it. No doubt you'll get pelters from certain quarters but hey-ho, it's the way of the world.
