Is he any good?

 

26 years old, had a it of a break out season last year scoring 26 goals in 30 appearances.
At 6’1” would also add a bit of height to the forward line.

 

Am I the only one who gets pi**ed off with former Saints talking rubbish about transfer business. I know that some of them need the work and journalists will ask them but really, how much do the likes of Andy Townsend and Carlton Palmer really know about Saints today ?

Yes. Interesting. For all the understandable anguish at us selling Ings it is interesting that Leicester need to sell one of their better players

Granted they have already made some big money signings but it still surprises me that he might go to Arsenal

I could see this as a Long replacement. Looks to be good in the air, scored a couple of acrobatic goals - he reminds me of Pelle in style. They seemed to get a couple of penalites every game and GG can certainly put them away but who was getting fouled so much? Could do with some of that at Saints.

 

I don't really follow other leagues. Is he any good?

 

A few weeks ago we were linked with Hoppe from Schalke for ~7m and I said it was a waste. His performance with his national team changed my mind. Looks like he has a bit of trickiness to him, could put in good shifts at both wing and the 9 and he has a bit of fire to him that I like to see. Americans are comparing him to Dempsey, which I think would be intriguing.

 

Come on then Saints. Cough up. 18-20m on Armstrong, and 9m on Delaney. You snooze, you lose, and these two are the final pieces in the jigsaw.

 

Do we know if Palace’s interest in Armstrong is genuine? Seemed to me to be too convenient the day after we sold Ings. Agent/Blackburn trying to pressure us into upping the bid? I don’t think we should go over £15m to be honest.

No rumours for Edouard (to anyone) recently either.

All quiet on Delaney too.

 

I think this one will happen personally.

Sounds a bit like Graziano Pelle.

 

He’s also a cheap gamble, hence why I think it may happen.

Doesn't look like either Saints, Palace or Norwich are stupid enough to pay £20m for Armstrong. All 3 clubs know they have to sell this window, I am expecting this one to go to the wire as Blackburn eventually give in to a bid of around £15m and Armstrong will just pick which clubs he wishes to join.
