Always remember when Huckerby told his agent to go shove it, I'm signing for Norwich when he was going on about wanting more money and that his client was never signing for Norwich after his loan.
You'd think that with all of the money agents make he could afford a modern cordless telephone or even a smart phone! Meanwhile, back in the real world of transfers, it seems negotiations for Tzolis are hotting up, unless the Pinkun is going to later declare their own article 'wide of the mark': https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/canaries-ncfc-christos-tzolis-move-close-8212354
Hope this transfer goes through, as clubs such as Man Utd were once interested in him and this is what he can produce: Perhaps an Emi replacement? Can play as a Left Winger, Attacking Midfielder or upfront
Is he on his way? Hope so https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-ncfc-christos-tzolis-move-close-8212354
€12m equates to £10.2m. Club record, and for a 19 year old. Nothing mentioned about add ons in the article. I assume Conners article would not have been printed if it were not true. Gazzumpers stay away.
This is very unlike us , usually players get signed without the constant soap opera like reporting . I find it very unlikely that anyone from our side is leaking the amounts that we bid and how many times we got knocked back .
I'm really excited about this. Around 10m for a 19-year-old is a risk, but I'm glad to support a club which will take this kind of risk. Occasionally I think about RvW and get a bit nervy. OK, he wasn't 19, but there was the same kind of hope and sense of boundless potential around his signing. However, I trust Farke to bring on a young player (especially a forward) much more than I trust Hughton (for all his other qualities as a manager). Let's hope it's all official tomorrow and we can relax for a few days.
Yes, you're right, Robbie - my original post was hasty and intemperate. Agents can't behave too atrociously or else soon they'll have no clients and also clubs won't want to do business with them. Even if they are tempted to be unethical, that will restrict their ability to play dirty. I guess the difference is that football agents are operating in a world where millions of people are very interested in what they are doing (unlike, for example, literary agents - who cares if even a famous author moves to a different agency?), so that allows football agents to try to manipulate the media to their own advantage (and that of their clients). The effect of this, it seems to me, is not beneficial to football as a whole. The entire transfer window makes for great theatre, but I'm not sure it's good for the sport.
Armstrong from Blackburn: having made a ‘major offer’ thought to be £15m plus Idah. Don’t know how Idah feels about being a make weight in a deal. Seems more than we usually spend so maybe Cantwell close to leaving?
Looks like things are ,hotting up - there could be a striker on the way to NCFC https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-ncfc-josh-sargent-set-to-sign-8214754
I think the extent to which even that takes place is probably exaggerated. And, talking about manipulating the media, there's plenty of that by football clubs themselves!
I’m more excited about Tzolis than Sargent to be honest. Sargent looks like a good pressing forward but his finishing needs a lot of work.
The Sargent rumor does nothing for me. That would give us four strikers counting Hugill. We're paying too much for Tzolis, IMO. About 20 mil euros for the pair. I just don't see the value. Maybe I'm stuck on the idea of bringing in a DM and need to get with the program.
The numbers quoted for Tzolis do sound high, record-breaking in fact. He sounds like an exciting player though and hopefully a step towards replacing Emi in amongst the new set up. This will all be completely overshadowed though if we can pull a Skipp-sized rabbit out of the hat in the coming days too. I continue to live in hope.
I think the numbers for Sargent are high, too. I didn't think we had that much left to spend. So, it sounds like somebody else is leaving. It would be great to get Skipp back, but would cost around another £2mil ? Saturday against Newcastle will give us a better understanding of what Farke has in mind.
