Cant see him getting near 30 goals, but if he can stick in 20 that will do.

Give him chances and he will score. Very good player for this level.

Looked great but can't play every minute of every game. Once defence sorted I'd be looking at competent back up / different options.

this is what I was going to say :D

Wyke didn’t score until the 5th game of last season.

He doesn’t need to score 30, or even 20 because his all round game will bring goals for others.

He’ll hit double figures comfortably, though.

We need him to weigh in with his share of goals - needs to be in the 20 to 25 range , the shortfall of Wykes goals will have to come from such as Gooch who should be scoring more than he has , Embleton should be in to double figures , McGeady the same , but we also need goals from elsewhere or we could fall short in the goal scoring stakes . Promising start against Wigan but we need to rack up goals and points early in the season - foot to the floor lads .

Whats not to like he is agile, pulls opposition players to him, excellent height to the ball, he is everything Wyke has not got, brilliant Piece of business

    Good point mate.
Wyke mainly relied on mcgeady and offered little else.
The lad might not get as many goals as wyke did but i bet he'll get a lot more than wyke does this season whilst also contributing more.

Embleton was unlucky not to score but that was the only minus from him.
    The goals should come.
I know it's early days but the players look like they're up for this now.
Get that defence shored up asap and we go out and attack with flair.
I think it's our season for the taking this time.

I'd like 3 different types of strikers, one of them being a speed machine for last 15 minutes when we are winning. Would push the opposition back 20 yards.

my thoughts exactly...30+ goals in a season is really quite rare considering how many strikers there are in 96 league teams, i get the feeling once the back four are sorted we will see even more attacking and a lot less of the tappy lappy across the back four crap.

we may even start playing and passing in a style to suit grigg but i do feel there are goals across the front three and midfield....hell, even flanno had a couple of good chances yesterday.

On the subject of Grigg. I was watching the access all areas and in the warm up they were doing finishing practice and his was best of any. He took the touch to find the far corner but reversed it into the other. It looked a quality natural finish. Clearly he is nowhere near the player we need and I doubt he can play the sort of game we want but just a sign the lad can obviously finish. I suspect it is best he moves on for all parties, but if he stays maybe he can add something from the bench when we are creating chances. I could well imagine Embleton or Pritchard playing through balls he would relish. I suppose there is positive thinking and there is this nonsense I have just posted <laugh>

I never like to get carried away, but some of the football we played yesterday was outstanding. If it’s a sign of things to come we will be right up there.

I said to my mate at the end that for the first time in ages I can see the type of football we’re trying to play and with a couple of fullbacks we’ll give some teams a hammering this season.

Strangely I agree, might get pelters for this but have always thought we didn't play his type of game and lumped it up to Wyke, however I think with this current squad even LJ might get a tune out of him, tin hat securely in place.

Was under the impression that's what Benji is for mate, in preseason he showed he was fast had ball awareness, but was not match savvy and quick enough with the control, but its coming like Embo a loan and we could have a winner

Think he might play at Port Vale with Pritchard and Diamond and Taylor. Be interesting to watch if he looks more engaged. I dont have high hopes but would be prepares to give him a chance if he looks like he wants to be here. He got 8 in 20 at MK Dons, not great but not hopeless either.

If his work rate off the ball is up to his usual half arsed standard do we stick with him, personal i would prefer to play Hawkes as the future and he deserves one, as far as Grigg is concerned mate, i think his chance to shine for us has well gone

If we can't get rid, we need to be pragmatic and use him when it suits us and the system. He's not terrible, so far, I've got to question his attitude and bottle, but he can clearly stick it between the posts in the right situation.
