Xhemajli isn't going to be in first team until winter. Flannagan won't be starting if a new challenge cones in. It'd a case of needs must at present. You can count Wright and younger as numbers if you want to but neither appear to be going to start league games anytime soon.

Aob and grigg scoring regularly with safc :emoticon-0102-bigsm how many chances do you want to give them.

Not sure what your argument is. You state we have "1defender and 1 striker" and I corrected you. You then dismiss every other player saying they aren't good enough. What argument are you trying to make?

Many have commented on this so unsure why I can't comment on it. Unless you don't like what I'm saying. If it helps I think he'll only be allowed to leave when we've a replacement signed.

There have been a few that have moved I'd have signed yes. There may be some available that we could sign we don't know about too. Just to say we are waiting and def will get them before deadline is blind faith. Nothing so far proves this will happen.

  6. You're right of course,we need a couple of full backs,a central defender and another striker option, and when we get them, the ideal situation for us would be to be able to offload Wright,Grigg and AoB. I haven't seen anyone on here disagree with that. Your argument centres around the timing of all of this....you feel it could and should have been completed much earlier. My argument, and that of others,is that if the club could have done it earlier they would, but,in waiting for the right people to become available, they're taking the sensible, strategic course the club under KLD is clearly on, and I have no doubt that we have some competent people handling this......which is a first for many a year......patience is required, which ,I'm sure, will be rewarded in due course.
Now,if you agree with all of that, please stop rattling on about it,because you're driving everybody nuts!

No mate, I'm not saying you can't comment. Not sure how to put this. My defence has always been of commenting on where we are now, which you have been doing and is fine. There is no point in debating what might be at the end of the window. Ergo the same applies to the Wright situation, he is a Sunderland player at this moment in time.

Stewart and Doyle are the only fit players in squad currently able to fill those positions imo. The others are injured, clearly not up to it or not being trusted to play in younger case. Our squad isn't good enough to go up in its current state. I'm really surprised anyone would argue with that. It's a symptom of the failures of previous owners/staff but one then new team need to put right or risk promotion

  9. LJ said he was on track, recovery going well, but did not expect to see him until half way through the season iirc. However,I think he may have been playing it down a little and I'm hoping he is able to come back earlier, during the Autumn anyway.

I'll continue to reply as long as people quote me as is my right on a message board. We've no idea why they haven't gotten players in but as you agree they'd have wanted this earlier somethings not gone to plan and they need to chance tact or risk promotion. It's unlikely we'll get 6 or 7 quality players the rate were going.

Can see your point there on wright, fair enough. On the next 3 weeks though many posters stating almost as fact we'll get what we need. It's not certain and ad you've agreed the current situation isn't good enough. Hope we see improvements soon.

  12. Of course you have the right of reply....I wasn't suggesting otherwise....it's the content of your replies I've an issue with. I've no inside knowledge, but it seems to me that the thing that's not gone to plan is that the preferred targets haven't become available yet. LJ himself said the nature of these things is that it could take 24 hours or 24 days.....many transfer moves have a host of moving parts which have to come together. What do you suggest they change tack to?

Thats my point marra, to be succinct there are no guarantees we will get full backs and likewise there is no guarantee Wright will leave
And we do need improvements. I get that people keep saying we aren't going to make the same mistakes again by buying bodies for the sake of it, however the other option is waiting for better players or "making the same mistakes again" and playing players out of position for a prolonged period. I don't think the club can win, unless they bring in the quality and that is what I am pinning my ever dwindling hopes on

Well as you say we don't know reasons but if it's a valuation issue we'll need to move as players tend to become more expensive closer to the deadline not less. It could be that those on top of our list aren't going to move. I the case we may need to move elsewhere. We could even look to sign alternatives to get movement on our prime targets. It all depends on how long our list is, I'd expect it nit just to have one player for each position.

If we're waiting around for clubs to say x player is available it's very risky imo as they may choose to keep then past august. We've 2 or 3 positions were desperate for and need more than 1 player for. Take the Liverpool player as an example. Should we have pulled out fir another player as is reported or signed both. A bird in the hand and all that.

Whatever they're doing its not helping the side right now I think we can all agree on that.

Our defence was poor imo. Especially lb first half. Wigan should have scored more. Going forward I was very happy and saw great improvements. If we can sort a tight back line out I'd be more than confident of promotion.

We started with a decent points return early on last season too iirc.

True but they risk failure trying to get quality in quantity for little outlay. Other teams can see our squad and will be upping prices as the deadline approaches imo. I know I would in their place.

Thought the LJ comment was that we would not see the best of him , until January, which implied that he might be playing before then.
