MOTM for me was between Winchester and Neil. Thought both were comfortable and the defence as a whole weren't really troubled. Neil played some good balls forward and maybe Winchester might have nicked MOTM for the goal. Wish LJ wouldn't go 3 at the back to see out there game and thought Gooch was lucky to last the 90 mins, another patchy performance from him. All in all a good performance from the team where the longer they play together the better they'll get

Better second half I thought. Found a win and turns it into a very good start. Plenty of signs still we are a good side with great young lads. On we go.

3 points is huge, with the contenders already showing themselves. Massive result for Sheff Weds, although they didn't have to go very far to get it. Burton & Pompey will be there or thereabouts anarl...

    https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...n-winchesters-screamer-seals-win-for-the-lads
    Anthony Patterson: 6/10

A quiet game until late on. Looked assured with his passing but completely missed a corner and had to be bailed out by Cirkin on the line.
    Carl Winchester: 9/10
Looks full of confidence, although wasted at right back on current form. Scored what turned out to be the winner and Wimbledon offered no threat whatsoever down his side.
    Tom Flanagan: 8/10
Harshly booked in the first half but continued impressive start to the season.
    Callum Doyle: 8/10
Just as solid as Flanagan but with some impressive bursts forward to either intercept the ball or try to start an attack.
    Dan Neil: 8/10
Another good performance by Neil, this time at left-back once again. Good defensively and always looking to make something happen despite playing a defensive role.
    Luke O’Nien: 6/10
Tireless display. Booked late on, maybe not a surprise with how quick he is to put a foot in. Would like to see more from him with the ball.
    Elliot Embleton: 7/10
Unlucky not to score from distance and played some good balls over the top that his team-mates failed to take advantage of.
    Aiden McGeady: 5/10
The captain just does not look quite right this season. Struggling to maintain his high standards and gave the ball away too easily.
    Alex Pritchard: 6/10
Bypassed a bit in the first half with the team struggling going forward but better in the second half, almost scored with a curling effort that flew past the post.
    Lynden Gooch: 6/10
Similar to McGeady on the other flank, Gooch failed to spark into life today but worked his socks off for the team.
    Ross Stewart: 6/10
A hard working display from the big striker this afternoon, played in by Gooch in the second half only for his shot to be well saved by the visiting ‘keeper.

    Subs
    Dennis Cirkin: 7/10
Saved all three points when clearing off the line from a Wimbledon corner.
    Nathan Broadhead: 6/10
Busy display but not much chance going forward as we saw out the game.
    Bailey Wright: 6/10
Came on late to help the team see out the 90 minutes.

Man of the Match: Carl Winchester

Such a good performance from the midfielder. May be playing out of position at right back but looks so confident right now that hopefully the arrival of Niall Huggins will see him slot back into midfield as soon as possible.

Thought the first half was a difficult watch, too many overhit passes and Gooch and McGeady not finishing off moves positively, often losing the ball.
The second half was more comfortable, despite further mistakes buy the same two. Thought Winchester had an outstanding game, as did the defence in general and deserved the clean sheet, the last 15 minutes were generally well controlled as well, very little tension on my part.
Excellent signs of more to come especially from Embleton and Neil and our other youngsters, exciting times ahead!

That was a big 3 points with 3 of the top 4 to play in the next 3 games. If we're still in the top 6 after those games things will be looking good.

Not the greatest we'll play this season but we got it over the line. Exactly what we said after Tuesday, not on top form but but three points.

    Play ****e and win. Lovely.

Winchester really becoming a big player. Doyle, gonna say it every week, is ridiculous for 17.

It was good to be back

Most of the old crew still around.

1st half pretty even (Neil, missed a header)

We were unlucky not to score a couple more goals in the 2nd half.

    Winchester/Neil both outstanding

    Gooch/Mcgeady relatively poor games

    Onwards and upwards
