Lets's have a Deadline Day cliffhanger to buy a quality GK to entertain us and get the publicity from Sky?

We're not signing a keeper this window.

This only happens if West Brom take Forster for minimum half his wages. But I still doubt it

But you’d think Forster has a better chance of getting a good deal next year if he plays for a season

I think it’s a B+ window, given the limitations. We have much more strength in depth now and look more complete as a squad. We’re short a CM still and we’d like a GK but getting everything done was unlikely. Last season we were short at CM, forward, wide and both full backs. 3/4 of those are looking much healthier now. I’m pleased that we aren’t left with a year of wavering over Ings/Vestergaard too.

In this transfer window we have played to our strengths, getting in cheap, promising young players who want a chance at first team football. Our best signings in recent years have been this. They have given us good service or been sold for silly money.

When we have splashed the cash is when we have got it wrong.

I like your thinking but I think a goalkeeper will come next summer.

It’s Tom presenting his opinion as fact. On this occasion he’s probably right.

I think it’s malpractice if we do. Obviously things can change and maybe someone’s going to get wildly thirsty for Big Fraz but not likely. We’ve just declared McCarthy as number one, Forster is expensive backup.

If there’s anything left, it just has to be used on a CM who can be an all-rounder. I don’t feel that there’s anyone at the club Ralph trusts for that role after JWP, Romeu and Diallo. That’s why Armstrong gets thrown in there, despite having none of the same skills as the aforementioned three. If you want 2 for every position then there seems to be a hole there.

Yes I do agree. It’s great we’ve got rid of some dead wood & im certainly not saying our 2x keepers are but it’s definitely a bridge to cross but likely in 12month time & not now. We tried the youngen with £12m on Gunn & nows not the time to spend more of our meagre dosh on another keeper; IMO

A central midfielder who could cover as a central defender would be amazing. It would make me less nervous about switching to a 3 at the back system at times because that could leave 4 central defenders stretched

    But those aren’t common

Strange one all this stuff around Stu. I'd be utterly gutted (and a bit surprised) if he was pushing for an out. I'd be even more gutted and surprised if we were trying to move him on. He's absolutely one of our very best players.

    BUT

It doesn't actually feel as catastrophic as it would have been last season were he to leave.

Hoping it's all social media driven nonsense either way.

I’d still think we would need a replacement if he does go. Some drive from that right sided number 10 be it Christie or a loan for Oxlade / Loftus cheek or even Barkley

But would rather he stayed than all of those options

    Oh absolutely.

I think he's quite simply just got a bit of a niggly calf injury though. I don't see there's anything in this.
