Not content with abusing players on their debuts at the Valley, the 'hard core' will doubtless be planning some direct action soon. Harassing some sponsors maybe, or paying a visit to some people in their offices for a quiet word. Not needed anymore, but they've got a taste for it now.
Yes, there is a movement to get Sandgaard out. But as it stands, it's not from the bunch who organised visits to Belgium but rather the ones who denounced them. Incredible that at the start of the season this is where we are. Be interesting to see who they want to replace Sandgaard with - I don't remember much of a queue to buy the club, and I certainly don't remember the fans having the money to do it.
They haven't thought as far ahead as a replacement owner. And whoever it is, he (or they) will just get the same treatment anyway in a few months. But I've just read a reassuring statement from the triumphant Upper North Taliban. They wish to calm the nerves of the wider football community by stating that now they are in charge, the women's team will be respected - until they lose three games in a row - and those fans who supported Thomas Sandgaard will (not) be persecuted. After all, we are all Charlton supporters right? Members of the outgoing administration at CAFC should not go to Charlton Station unless they already have a ticket. Welcome to a new age at CAFC - the stone age.
The only other interested party was Andrew Barclay, who wanted to buy the ground as well, but was put off by Roland's extortionate asking price.
Why would Barclay or anyone else want some of what Sandgaard is getting right now? Some argued that the zealots would hit out at anybody who bought the Club in the future. Foolishly I disagreed. Won't get fooled again.
Different zealots, isn't it? Without reading what they are saying I'd guess their argument goes along the lines of " If you don't boo the players and attack the owner and all and sundry it means that you've got no ambition for the club and are happy to see them get relegated", a familiar refrain. It's always been a disingenuous stance, blaming other fans. Or maybe they are saying something different?
Oh yeah, the human that called me a "****ing worthless ****" on ITTV and was excused as banter. It posts on here, I have it on ignore.
There was plenty of justifiable negativity about the Club over the last seven years - when it was being harmed by hostile owners. There is no hostile CAFC owner problem now. Thomas Sandgaard and maybe some of his senior management team have made some mistakes, and perhaps circumstances (around external investment for example) have not worked out the way TS thought they would. Criticism of mistakes is understandable. Concerns about a long term plan are understandable. But anybody trolling Sandgaard on social media, or otherwise briefing against Sandgaard as if he is an enemy of CAFC, is way out of order. Anti-Sandgaard = Anti-Charlton Athletic as far as I'm concerned.
Let it go mate. Life is much better. Have deleted my account on that forum. The amount of abuse that Sandgaard was getting was crazy. What short memories some people have.
Royston has started with the personals already again. He's on Paul's side though so all will be fine. His nose must stink.
