As we know Everton tried to hijack the deal and Leicester were also in for him, yet knowing this Dan James looks to have taken a pay cut because he wanted to come to Leeds. Read this: Saturday: Dan James reassured he was part of #mufc plans, so told Leeds he‘d be staying. Sunday night: James told he‘d be *long* way down pecking order by #mufc. DJ called Leeds midday Monday to say he‘d come. #lufc then made 3 bids in an hour to cut deal.
Not personal, just do not agree with much you say, But it does seem you think you know more than Sr Bielsa and our club. Time will tell.
There's better ways to say it I respect anyone's opinion - do you think James will be a success? Bielsa went on record this week saying he wouldn't sign any players who weren't better than what he had...do you think James is a better player/winger than Raphinha or Harrison ?
He has the potential to be as good as both, we need game changers on the bench as do all serious clubs. Just so you know my initial vote was no, but I 'm coming round to the idea. I think we all wanted an AM but maybe that option was not available. Anyway IBWT MOT
I've calmed down a bit and accepted reality. But this window has been an opportunity wasted IMO, and I hope we don't pay for it by flirting with relegation. Our midfield is still weak. I fear that Bielsa will modify the team's formation in order to accommodate James and I've seen on another site a suggestion that Raphina plays up front with Bamford in a 4-4-2 (or 4-4-1-1) formation with Harrison AND James starting on the wings.
The gooners spent 25 million on a reserve keeper after selling a better one to villa for less. Oh, and a keeper that’s been relegated every season for the last three years with three different clubs. Seems to be bringing his curse with him so far.
Whilst I remain jury out regarding Dan James I’m not convinced any of the young U23s will see any first team premier league football this season.
We’ve only been back in the PL for one season and three games. We’re not in a position to have two top drawer players competing for every position. If we’d spent £50m on Ben White with already having Llorente, Struijk, Cooper and Koch at our disposal the starting 11 improvement would be minimal. O’Brien has never played in the PL Bielsa obviously saw him as one for the future, a slight gamble, if he’d viewed him as a starting player then £8m would be fine. How many other Premier League teams were in for him at £8m? - Zero. I’m frustrated that we never signed a central midfield player but Orta presented a few, Bielsa said no. The reason we’ve still got Bielsa in charge is because Orta and Radz listen to him, they back him when he asks for it, they don’t force players onto him that he doesn’t want. James is a huge step up on Costa and Poveda, you don’t spend that much money on a player you’ve chased for so long and have no intention of playing him. Watch Raphinha move to a central position and be our new #10 Bielsa has a master plan give him time to get it working before condemning
Very true as I said in my thread it's our defence that needs shoring up then when that is right and NOT leaky we then just need to score goals , as it does not matter how many you score if your Letting them in at the other end. Let's see if Vinny is available ha ha
That leaves a question where is Rodrigo going to play if rephinia goes to number 10 ? Maybe sell him ? Or put him in midfield ?
Brilliant, intelligent, well thought out post ... truth is, there is absolutely fk all to condemn ... go back four years & Cellino, look at what was being said on this board and you'll quickly realise that Leeds under Radz, with his strong leadership team, are unrecognisable as a club We should be crawling over glass to lick Radz's shoes, he's resurrected our club and given us something to be proud of ... we have a world-class coach, some cracking players, a happy squad and immense improvements off the field ... nothing to condemn at all, only thing to do now is get behind the team, lose all the toxicity and become UNITED and stronger together, become the envy of all the plastics ... let Arsenal Fans TV continue to slaughter their own club, continue to destroy from within We're Leeds, we're fkn special us supporters, we understand what being Leeds means ... MARCHING ON TOGETHER
Back up for Raphinha ? Our record signing is a bit of a flop - did Bielsa really sanction the signing ? It's hard to believe he saw a Spanish international striker and thought, "Hmmmm...he'd make a great midfield player" Shades of us signing Ian Rush and then deciding to play him in midfield.
Watching the highlights, and scanning some of the games on YouTube, the thing that stood out for me with James, apart from blistering pace, was his chasing back and getting good tackles in. That'll help the midfield and defence.
Last season, OGS did state something like . With James I have the best defensive winger in world football
