Well I was one of those who thought the club shoujd have ****ed him off BUT it’s good to see the club playing hardball and not being held to ransom by players. he’s signed now which adds to our strength in depth and hopefully he kicks on and shows us all how good he can be.
What were you expecting, a 'Kiss Me Quick' hat and a kazoo? Edit: and it's only your assumption that he tried to hold us to ransom.
Footballing giants Huddersfield Town were in for this lad? Wow, what a player we’ve got on our hands. Superb deal to get him signed up.
Pleased he has signed. Big graft ahead now to get fit and back into the side, Cirkin isn't here to sit on the bench and I'm sure Hume doesn't want that either. Positive competition for places in the squad.
Yep, he has strengths and weaknesses that need working on...tell it like it is does LJ.... makes you wonder if he wanted him? If Hume knew LJ was not a fan, that's maybe why he was reluctant to sign? I could just be reading too much into a few remarks?
I always wonder about this. So many players seem to be badly advised yet they never simply do what we all think should be easy and sack the advisor. I wonder if they have “contractual obligations” to these agents, much as a club does to a player? Meaning they can’t sack without paying them off or something? Obviously I have no idea but there has to be a logical explanation somewhere surely?
I personally read LJ comments as quite positive ‘there’s a player there but not quite yet’ Stands with what he said previously that the club had offered what they felt was his current worth, and fair play to them to sticking to it. If Denver improves and gets consistent, his contract will reflect that.
A footballers playing can be cut short at any time from one tackle or injury. So I never criticise a player trying to make the most financially out of say a 10 or so years career.
LJ's comments read entirely directed at his agent. Basically saying he's good, we want him, but he's not brilliant and you should have done this sooner.
They are in the championship and were willing to pay quite a decent fee apparently, along with other championship clubs, yet the majority wanted him to stay, now 12 months on some folk think he's dogshit. Sounds to me those have done a 180 or are a bit too precious that he's took his time in agreeing a deal.
What I posted yesterday, players should have to earn their contracts and not just expect them Club have played a blinder and I'm over the moon.
I'm surprised he's signed after all this time - I guess we'll never really know why he delayed this long and ultimately I suppose it doesn't matter. He's our player now and he should be supported as such. I think that the club have handled this really well though.
Is it wise for us to sign an out of contract player whilst he is suffering/recovering from a long term injury? Maybe our offer was based on the possibility of his injury affecting his future performances, ie. a potential sicknote. Hume's proposal is probably based on him being fully fit. I would think that both parties have been at a bit of an impasse until Hume's injury/recovery has been fully assessed. Now he is nearing fitness a deal has been achieved, a one both parties are happy with. Hume has maybe now accepted that he is due a squad player wage, not a first team wage.
