I haven't been too critical of Burge or Patterson......but surely the goalie from Bayern has got to start.
HA'WAY THE LADS MACKEMS ATTACKEM A game in hand over the next two, including Burton, and how the fùck did we manage to lose to them ? I think we weren't quite polished then, still not but looking very good all the same. I was a bit worried with all the outgoings and late arrivals. Thought we might take time to bed in. But we've come out guns blazing and surely get better as the season progresses, especially with the look of these new signings. Hopefully a convincing win tomorrow to further cement our top spot. Coooooomon
And that's the scenario in a nutshell - the longer the season goes on, the more the players get used to each other - the runs they make, the postions they'll be in to receive the ball. There's been flashes of how the team can play and we're only a handful of games in. I reckon we could be in for a hell of a season - we're due one as well!
Just over 27700 sold so far, sales are slow so don't expect 30k unless Accrington bring a large following which they won't. My guess would be 29k, or just under
We often mention about seeing how good a team is when you see who is on the bench. In our case it’s even better, just look at the quality we have who are trying to get on the bench. On this post by RTB, Pritchard and Alves cannot even make the bench and that’s not including the likes of Hume, Arbenit and a few more waiting to be available. Three keepers and nobody knows which one will play tomorrow although we all reckon the Hoff will end up being first choice. Such a strong squad.
German lads are fit and available for selection if required. Training has been excellent all week, particularly today Pritchard is training unbelievably well and LJ is almost 'embarrassed' that he can't fit him into the team.
And that's after we let Hawkes and Diamond go out on loan as well as the rumour that AOB was in line to go to Doncaster! Its great to have this strong a squad in league 1 and it's gonna be a handful keeping all the players happy but fingers crossed they are and I think the way we're playing and if the team keeping picking up points the way they are, all the players will be busting a gut to get a game which is good for the team in general but outside looking in, even if players don't get picked, it seems that there's a good atmosphere in the club now that they'll still be happy.
This. Pretty soon we have a few Saturday & Tuesday games coming up which will mean the squad will need to be used.
Just as a little addendum - great thread as always @RTB but isn't it great that 3 pages in and no negative posts!
And what seems a squad constructed with a lot of thought.....mix of young and not so young, experienced and not so experienced. Also, players who don't seem to be fazed by the larger crowd at home.....Neil,Embleton,Winchester,Stewart all seeming to beginning to thrive on it. I know we will have some down moments through the season,I expect them, but I'm very optimistic at the moment and I'm not expecting one just yet. It'll send the shivers up everyone in this league if we go out there tomorrow and bury second in the table Accrington 5 or 6 nil.....
After 4 seasons I'm sick to f***ing death of opposition managers playing the 'poor little *insert name*' card. The latest is Accrington's John Coleman who's posted this feeble attempt at mind games, “They might eat better meals than us after training and their players might drive nicer cars but that doesn’t guarantee you more points on a Saturday, it doesn’t guarantee you winning your own individual battles. He's no Alex Ferguson is he
