John Terry to Florist. If they fail to beat the smoggies on Wednesday, it will be a shoe-in. I was listening to radio shotingham on Sunday. The natives are sharpening the knives for Hughton who sounded like he'd been on the same media course as Terry McCann, last season.
Formation or not, I don’t understand how this “attacking style/formation” all of a sudden became a masterstroke of a defensive set up after a 0-0 draw. Last championship season and this terry refuses to change or admit it didn’t work. What would be wrong in going to Swansea and saying we set up 451 to get a point? Id accept that, I’d be disappointed we didn’t have ago but I’d accept it. We stick with Terry’s plan A which doesn’t produce chances or a goal and yet that’s accepted
Just watched Everton crush Burnley. Andros Townsend was brilliant..great left foot. Was it him we let go from our Youth ranks a few years back...went to Scunthorpe ?? He was great on 30 yard free kicksSorry...nothing to do with Blackburn
I would be happy with another draw, but it would be nice to have a score one rather than a 0-0 unless of course, we are winning. I wonder whether McCann might rest Tom H, as another game after the weekend he might feel it would be too much for him? If so, maybe Smallwood will be brought back in against his old club, or might he look at putting A Jones there, as Bernard has looked good when he has played? I guess we will have to wait and see. I think I would go with Tyler Smith upfront, as Magennis looked a bit lost on his own Saturday? Well, 1-30 am wake up for me, and it looks as if Saturday's game against the Blunts is being televised, so I guess no ifollow unfortunately.
The thing is tonight is regarding what system we play and we all know what that will be but players have got to lift their game going forward. People have got to burst a gut to get onto the end of a cross but crosses have to be better. All round we have to defend well and that midfield/ forward line has got to stand up and start causing the opposition some problems. We do lack quality, we do have what seems to be a good team spirit, we obviously are coming up against better players, we are competing but not scoring and that needs to change. This young defence needs to see players further up doing their jobs and giving them something to hold onto by scoring the odd goal. Still early days, we are adjusting but are obviously finding scoring at this level a problem. Let’s hope that changes starting tonight. Another point would be good here.
Huddlestone definitely needs to start. He’s about the only one that talks the younger players through the game.
I agree with you! One striker in the box isn’t creating enough genuine goal scoring opportunities. Whatever they do on the training ground may not be being carried out on the pitch on match days. Often you see teams with 4-5 players in the opposition box during open play. Not very often you can say that about City. It’s not a criticism, just an observation, the more players in the box the better the odds of scoring.
I think both Smiths in for Huddlestone and Magennis, to freshen things up if nothing else. Huddlestone didn’t play for over a year before joining us and he looked leggy against Swansea. Matt Smith looked far more energetic when he came on.
Yes to that, also Honeyman in for Moncur if fit enough for 90 mins. More controversially, I'd also put Longman in after his cameo at Swnsea, and I'd even think about putting him in for KLP who was poor on Saturday and could do with a minor kick up the arse after recent form (yes, I know Wilks was just as bad, so it's a fine line).
I won't disagree with this, I've liked Smith when he has played, though McCann may go for a more defensive-minded holding midfielder than Matty Smith. I guess we will see what happens.
