His crossing ability certainly leaves a lot to be desired. Knocking balls into the area he is most dangerous and would be better in that don't reach a City player anyway.

Deluded. Not for the first time, McCann was outthought. Their Manager won the battle of the subs. He recognised a change was needed in play, everyone could see after their subs Blackburn were dominant, overrun us, and goals were coming. Meanwhile Grant and his side kick look puzzled, did nothing to counteract their changes, until too late. In a blink of an eye the game was gone.

He’s been peddling out the defensive errors on a regular basis, bit embarrassing given his “expertise" and that of his assistant. Surely they knew Ayala is the danger at corners, shouldn't be allowed free headers, should have been given closer attention. I'm not going to criticize the players, we are where I expected to be, I acknowledge the players have limited experience and skill, and are on a steep learning curve. They are playing the system they are told to do, but when they are up against it, teams who suss it out and overrun them, particularly the youngsters, they could do with a bit of help & flexibility from the Manager, not indecision.

McCann, on the other hand, I felt that he did deserve another shot at managing in the Champ'ship, after the glorious L1 showing, but it would just be nice if he held his own hand up, his frailties at times, rather than constantly blaming others.

I only played amateur football so maybe managers are not quite as heavily involved compared to pros - but if a centre half doesn’t know the danger men at corners he’s either thick or complacent beyond belief - it’s usually the tall guy and in this caee he’s seen on tv enough times over the years. As for players looking lost after the opposition scores - are they really robots who cannot think for themselves ! Surely they mark or close down ! To be honest they were still playing the open game it had become in the first half - unless given other instruction - maybe that’s where Mcann was slow

Perhaps he is talking his players up ? The way Brian Clough used to at Derby and Forest. Make them believe they are world beaters. Do you think he should try telling them every day at training that they are not good enough for this level then repeat that in his media interviews ?

Similar trait to his boss, 'are you telling me how to run my team'?

I like the way he threw Greaves under the bus instead of taking it himself. What is that gonna do to a young lads confidence.

He is not my man Grant. He is the manager of the football club I support.
There are more then enough amateur managers and experts out there scrutinising his every word and questioning his every decision without me adding to it.
I'd have thought the manager would have been more effected by last nights result, and every loss for that matter, then anyone on here knows about.

“A ten-minute spell where we conceded off a set-play with an individual mistake cost us, which is disappointing for us and Jacob will learn and he is learning all the time.”

“We are just slashing at things at the minute. Maybe they are trying too hard, I don’t know.

I have never seen so many shots fly over the crossbar since I have been at the football club and from players who are usually quite clinical and deadly in those situations.”

He’s quite happy to criticise his players, even name-dropping individuals, to the press. Did he take any personal responsibility for the result or performance? Any self-reflection on his part?

'You can put all your cups. Your tin-pot trophies and all your caps into that fecking bin. Because you cheated.'
Priceless. First day of training at Leeds United. And people wonder why Cloughie failed. Not having Peter Taylor with him was the massive factor.
Like Parkinson at City. His No2 at Colchester did all the work.

I know it’s difficult for McCann due to the embargo and what-not but it’s difficult to imagine this is best he can get out of this group of players. Chris Wilder dragged a League 1 team straight to the Premier League with mostly free transfers and loans. Valerien Ismael took a Barnsley team that was fairly average in terms of technical ability to the play-offs.

Would a better manager be getting more out of the likes of KLP, Wilks, Docherty, Greaves, Alfie Jones etc.? I think so. Just look at how far Bowen developed under Adkins compared to KLP and Wilks have so far under McCann. There’s a real risk of our most-talented players stagnating because of a bang-average and one-dimensional manager and his coaching staff.

I don't always (or often!) agree with you, Kalman, but I do here! I sometimes think GM talks about Malik and KLP as if they are better than they really are. I think they have potential but it does seem to me they are both making some of the same bad decisions on a football pitch that they were making last season. And there's less room to get away with it at this level.

Sometimes I watch KLP and Wilks and think “they’re talented lads, but what the **** are they doing there?”.

Both try to be way too clever sometimes and it ends with them ****ing up even the basics. KLP and his cut-inside shots that go into row z and Wilks who constantly receives the ball with his back to a defender only for him to turn his man like he’s running through custard is infuriating at times.

I always thought Wilks was quite pacy as a winger but he looks and moves like he’s a stone overweight recently.

To be fair to Wilks he has been out injured. You could tell he started the game poorly, but I thought he improved as the game progressed.

... and the set up really isn't helping them (nor Magennis).
As other's have said, the CF, and same applies to the wide men, are far too isolated.

I was quite surprised to hear McCann naming names - as I was also surprised that Darnborough chose to emerge from the shadows also.

Wonder if the change in tack has something to do with a potential new broom at the top with ambition to be more that a Championship/L1 yoyo club?
