Talks a lot of sense, mind I also thought Jack Ross spoke a lot of sense too but enough of that, were obviously committed down this youth track so fingers crossed were all happy come the end of April.
So many had him wrote off after last season, when he was trying to be successful in implementing his style of play with players that were simply not suited to it, and players that had failed in our objectives in the previous few seasons too. The fact we got close to the top two but then ran out of steam was more a testament to the manager for me. But now bringing in players that seem to suit the system we look a much better prospect. I know some struggle to see past his terminology but I fully believe he is a good coach and can get us promoted.
Correct. I was one of them. I just thought he was the wrong fit and the management speak got people's backs up. He's toned down the crap, talks honest sense and has assembled an exciting squad of young players. You cannot dispute the fact that the standard and style of football is light years ahead of what we played last year - on the face of it, trying to implement the style of football he wants with McFadzean, McLaughlin, Power, Scowen, Maguire, Leadbitter and Wyke was never going to happen. The real test will come when we lose a couple and/or we lose some key players to injury. Does he have a plan b if Stewart and Doyle get injured?
The players can’t hear me ‘because there are 32,000 screaming Mackems in the stands’ Hope that’s a little dig / piss take, I’ve chosen to believe it is
WE have lost one game -at Burton a game everyone including their manager agreed we should have won so we have never experienced losing two in a row . The squad is so much stronger this year so we have better backup , the last time Stewart didn’t play his replacement AOB scored a hat trick , BaileyWright or Alves could slot in as a replacement for Doyle , this year we wouldn’t have to be reliant on stand in Centre Backs like O’Nien or the now departed McLaughlin - most eventualities covered quite well I would suggest .
Johnson’s system pisses all over Ross’. Ross was good with people but couldn’t set up a balanced side.
His bottle seemed to crash the further we got into the season. We ****ing destroyed Barnsley at home for half an hour, some of the best football I've seen us play in this division. In true style we ended up making a meal of it but went on to win 4-2.
