Just listened to Mcgeady interview after the game... he was obviously gutted to lose a 2-0 lead.

However he mentioned the young squad as if that was the problem, well yes a couple of times mistakes were made by them. However I say this with the proviso, I have not seen the incidents.

It was the older experienced player brought into the team to provide some stability that was at fault for both goals...or have I got it wrong. Going off Radio Newcastle, it could be as they thought 09 hand balled for the penalty.

After seeing this I'm not sure it's instructions from Johnson ...

... "Lee Johnson blasted the decision to award Fleetwood Town a last-minute penalty at Highbury, but admitted his frustration with his side for allowing them back into the game."

It doesn't matter whether we sat back or went for the kill, to throw away a 2 goal lead with 16 minutes to go against mediocrity is down to the players and not tactics. What an absolute waste of 2 points.

Perhaps LJ has been spot on not to give Bailey-Wright a start. Although tbh I up till now thought him a good dependable CB, plus good distribution as well.
Perhaps as he was not getting a start he was trying too hard.. that is what caused his errors? Having not seen the foul he committed to give the penalty away i cannot say whether or not he or the Ref was at fault. LJ certainly has his opinion on it. You cannot legislate for crap refs awarding stupid penalties, no VAR at L1 games.

Wasn't it Johnson who let Wright go at Bristol City? I think the thought is that Wright isn't fast enough and/or his passing isn't good enough for the way Johnson wants to play.

Yes but the naysayers will blame him. He’s been a target for a few (luckily a seemingly minority) a number of times. First time something doesn’t go right it’s the end of the world. It’s one game. We deserved to win but got a draw. Missed chances cust us more than defensive errors too.

I think it’s a “foul” technically. But they did the same to Stewart >5 times yesterday and we didn’t get a foul for any of them. I think that was the point Johnson was making. It’s happened to our players probably more than 20 times with no penalties being given this season. That’s how I took it from LJ on BBC anyhow

You could just as easily blame Flanagan for picking up a daft booking ...

... or Hoffman for being too quick to 'distribute' the ball.

Apologies if it has already approached on this thread but I think it is about time we started looking at the amount of game time Mcgeady is given.
I am an admirer of his but I do definitely think he should be coming on now more as a impact sub rather than a starter.
Who replaces him, ?? I don't know so maybe I have answered my own question

Well!! Flanagans 5th booking was fir the oppo keeper taking a dive. And not to make a save. He didn’t touch him or interfere with him in any way. The ref wasn’t even looking at it either but the 80s Wimbledon , sorry Accrington players told him who to book and, like a good boy, he listened!

I think the issue with that is how young the squad is. We need some experience on the pitch. Gooch might be lacking going forward but his work rate is excellent. He gets involved at both ends. McGeady can probably be left on the bench if we have Evans playing but we need the experienced head in there with Embleton and Neill. IMO of course. I’m actually kind of agreeing with you yet finding a reason fir it! Somewhat hypocritical really!!

It's a very soft penalty. Referee clearly evening things up after he gave ours.

It works for me - but I do end up viewing ignored posts anyway when someone responds to something I can't see.
This is what Monty does to attract attention. Ignore and don't respond as he hardly ever answers back.

We are still on target for 105 points with all these youngans just getting to know each other, so let’s just say I’m not losing any sleep just yet.

Wright's performance yday was exactly why the data and higher Safc staff wanted to move him on. I understand that he is great behind the scenes and having a experienced head is good for the younger squad however, yday performance and errors were unforgivable.
