    After reading the posts and tributes yesterday, out of curiosity I looked to see what Shack had to say about him, in his (later) book.

    In his opinion Jimmy Greaves was the best striker he had ever seen, and that went from Ted Drake to Gary Lineaker.
    'When you saw Jimmy going through the centre of the field, with just the centre half or the goalkeeper to beat, such was his ability you felt that his only problem was who he was going to shake hands with first, after he had scored'.

    Thats enough for me.

    Great player. Saw him knock 4 goals against us at WHL in 68ish, same season as Tambling scored 4 against us for Chelsea and Hurst 6 for West Ham iirc. Was there at Chelsea but not at West Ham

    We haven't always been brilliant you know!!!

    Even the bad times are good as the trems once said!!
