I'm heading into enemy territory tomorrow as I'm fulfilling a long time wish to see The Specials live. I think while we're there, I will stand in front of a Sports Direct shop and clap. You never know it might make a refreshing change to the employees inside

Saudi Arabian PIF 'ready to turn to Inter instead of Newcastle'
https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...abian-pif-ready-turn-inter-instead-newcastle/ OOPS put the wrong link up corrected now missus giving us gyp for not talking enough

NEWCASTLE UNITED’S anti-competition claim against the Premier League will receive its first hearing next week – but the Italian media are reporting that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is ready to call time on its attempts to buy the Magpies and instead focus on taking over at Inter Milan.

The Newcastle hierarchy are pursuing a claim against the Premier League under section 47a of the Competition act, accusing the governing body of breaching competition regulations when they conducted their owners and directors’ test into the proposed takeover of the Magpies in the first half of 2020.

The Premier League insist they adhered to all the relevant legislation and never formally rejected Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabia-backed takeover plan, but Newcastle owner Mike Ashley disputes that view.

In a statement issued last year, the Magpies board said: “Newcastle United can confirm that the Premier League has rejected a takeover bid made by PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) based on its owners and directors’ test.

“This conclusion has ben reached despite the club providing the Premier League with overwhelming evidence and legal opinions that PIF is independent and autonomous of the Saudi Arabian government.”

The first stage of Newcastle’s anti-competition claim will take place on September 29, with a tribunal panel comprised of the Honourable Mr Justice Snowden, Michael Cutting and Tim Frazer due to hear evidence from the Premier League before determining whether Newcastle’s case can proceed.

If they give the green light to proceedings, a timetable will be drawn up for a full hearing in front of the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Even if NUFC win every court case they can't make the Saudis come back and buy the club ...

... Ashley could be there for another decade.

No doubt they'll claim the Inter Milan story is nonsense because of the ongoing 'court case' or whatever. The thing is Ashley can't just call a halt now in case the Italian FA won't entertain the Saudis. Unless PIF buy another club, or Ashley sells NUFC, he has no option but to carry on.

The only thing that's obvious is that there are no other credible buyers for the club ...

... what a shame for the protesters <laugh>

Newcastle United biggest movers in betting to be relegated and bookies are not often wrong

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19591660.newcastle-united-biggest-movers-betting-relegated/

NEWCASTLE UNITED have been the biggest movers in the bookmakers' market for teams to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

The Magpies' price to finish in the bottom three has tumbled over the course of the opening five games of the season.

Having started the campaign as 11-4 shots with BetVictor, Newcastle are now just 5-4 to be relegated this term.

They are the fourth most likely team to be relegated according to the odds, with only Watford, Burnley and Norwich City regarded as more likely to be heading to the Championship.

Norwich are the current favourites in the relegation market at 4-9.

Brighton have been the biggest movers in the other direction, with the Seagulls having been pushed out from 6-1 to 25-1 after a string of good results in the opening month of the season.

I think Newcastle are away to Watford on Saturday which is a real 'six pointer' with both teams desperate for a win ...

... the last game of the season sees Newcastle away to Burnley which could be fun.
