please log in to view this image Wednesday 22nd September 7.45pm Carabao Cup 3rd Round Molineux Stadium I'll be generous and call the weekend's performance a mixed one, rather than a poor one. That still leave us with three under-par runouts since the international break. We've got the filth on Sunday, so I expect a weakened side in this game, which isn't ideal. The indecipherable Midlanders caused us no end of trouble earlier in the season, despite our win. Can Espirito Santo get something from the squad players or will it be an early exit from this cup? It's not been very long since we played each other and not a lot has changed for the two teams. I'll just leave the highlights of that match here, for anyone that's forgotten how it went or missed it: And here's the manager's press conference, which I must admit I haven't watched: Bergwijn, Moura and Sessegnon are still out, but Tanganga returns from his suspension. Jonny, Neto and Bueno are out for the hosts. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Royal, Romero, Dier, Reguilon; Ndombele, Hojbjerg, Alli; Lo Celso, Kane, Son. Subs: Gollini, Doherty, Rodon, Sanchez, Davies, Skipp, Winks, Gil, Scarlett. Wolves: Sa; Kilman, Saiss, Coady; Semedo, Neves, Moutinho, Marcal; Traore, Jimenez, Trincao. Subs: Ruddy, Hoever, Boly, Mosquera, Ait Nouri, Dendoncker, Podence, Hee-Chan, Silva. Ref: Peter Bankes. TV: Not televised. How would you like to line up for this one? Would you stick with much of the same lineup from the Chelsea game, tinker a little or change it completely? Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Wolves to go with?
In an apparent attempt to outdo our weird branding ****, Wolves have started a record label: Fair enough.
Since the club's Youtube channel has put out a couple of shorts of Ndombele's flicks and dribbles (and not, say, the lack of defenders taken out of position by them forcing him to pass backwards) it's reasonably safe to assume he'll start this evening
I know I’ve been quite vocal of his appointment since day one but he’s really doesn’t inspire me at all, I genuinely can’t see how players would like his dull style of management on/off the pitch
Not bothered how it goes tbh we can’t handle the fixture congestion and it will only hurt us in the league plus we don’t do trophies c’mon Wolves
Think I’d actually rather try and go all out in the cups. Doubt we’ll get top four or top six so I’d rather we at least tried winning something, more so than half hearting it. We’ve gone relatively strong tonight so I reckon Nuno is gonna take it semi seriously at least.
It’s a fine balancing act. Going further in the cups usually affect league performances because of fixtures and injuries. Would be lovely to win a trophy but realistically the team doesn’t turn up when they really need to.
Yeah, I have the same mindset too, despite many Arsenal fans dismissing the League Cup (which we haven't won in my lifetime btw). We're not going to get top-four, we're not in Europe and we're not going to win the league. So that leaves the two domestic cups as our best shots of winning silverware. Would much prefer we take it seriously than sack it off. It always frustrated me that Wenger dismissed it so frivolously. A trophy is a trophy, at the end of the day. They're hard to win, and even harder now when City keep monopolising the domestic scene.
Yeah I don’t like dismissing any cup and I’m with you on the trophy is a trophy front. I can understand at times the need and the opportunity to play a rotated side here and there but in general I always get pissed off when we crash out of a competition, especially when you get the feeling we had a good chance of winning it - see last season vs Zagreb. The big/ top four are a solid level above the rest of the league this season and right now Leicester are a better side than us, with West Ham performing well too I think 6th is gonna be tough to get so I’d much rather we just went all in for the cups and hope for the best. Players like Lloris, Son and Kane deserve a pot too in my opinion (not that you’ll agree ), if this is to be Lloris’ last season with us especially I’d love for him to go out with something.
It'd be nice to score a goal from open play.... ...maybe not concede three... ...it's baby steps for now, after the last 2 'performances'.
exactly it’s a waste of time no one can begrudge me this stance I think you’re all crackers for hoping
Four things that made me feel old this week: 1. Someone in work had their 22nd birthday. 2. My 18 yr old uni kid texted me 2 nights ago to say she was going out ... just as I was going to bed! 3. She then texted to say she got home safely at 4am ... and then to say her 9am lecture was boring 4. My 23 Yr old ex uni kid likes the 3rd kit. Bunch of young bastards
