How he could continue playing football with that hanging over him is beyond me.

There were suggestions, at the time, that Johnson was attempting to pay hush money. ...

... the club would've been in a very difficult situation if the girl had withdrawn her story.

There's plenty of stories from people who worked at the club, admittedly at low levels, that tell you how she behaved and would treat people. Appointing Di Canio without discussing it with the rest of the board is one, changing commercial deals for the club shop that lead to shortages of some items is another. A lass I used to know who worked in the club shop hated her and said she was on a power trip because of the way she treat people, but would turn on the charm if it suited her. She called her Karen Brady with an Irish accent.

The club had a number of wrongful dismissal or constructive dismissal cases brought against them while she was CEO, especially in the last 18 months or so that she was there, including a case of harassment brought by a female employee against Gary the hair for sending her an inappropriate Christmas card which Byrne initially did nothing about until the person involved took it further. The common theme in the wrongful or constructive dismissal cases was that if you were in her camp or one of her favourites you were OK, but if you weren't or you stood upto her you were out and marginalised. How many decent people were moved out if the club because of her who could have prevented stuff like this is anyone's guess.

Knowing what I've been told, I can well believe that few other senior board members other than her and a couple of her underlings knew much of the details of what Johnson did until it was too late. To be honest you can trace at least 80% of the problems we've went through recently to her involvement in the club. This is probably just the biggest and the obe she couldn't have wriggled out of or used someone else as a scapegoat.

Sunderland played virtually a second string as well and wiped the floor with us, how the **** can anyone defend that?"

Gary Hutchinson, so named because of his ridiculous hair cut. The former commercial director whose "expertise" meant we went from initially making decent money staging concerts to barely making anything on them. He was involved in another harassment case at SAFC when he asked a rather well equipped female employee "How's the puppies today" while staring at her breasts, which made the person in question and some others present uncomfortable and resulted in a complaint levelled against him. Safe to say he was a Byrne favourite and left SAFC a few months after she went.

Pretty much. We went from making hundreds of thousands from them to barely making £30,000 from them, with that mostly due from grants from the council for policing and security. The deals he was negotiating pretty much handed all the money to everyone else. He pretty much screwed them up, and while I didn't like Martin Bain, he took one look at those deals and pulled the plug on the concerts. After that happened he was pretty much on borrowed time as he couldn't get away with his juvenile behavior or the poor commercial work he was doing as Byrne wasn't there to protect him.

After he left he got a job for the FA in the commercial department at Wembley, but was peddled after a few months. Officially he quit to buy and take over the Fat Budha in Newcastle, but most rumours say he was pushed for failing to keep existing, let alone attract new clients for corporate FA and Wembley contracts.

You're right, he was useless. Its people like him that caused us to haemorrhage money in the mid 2010s, which ended up in Short pulling the plug on the finances and selling us to the chancers. And you can trace his effects back to Byrne.

Shrewsbury are always likely to cause trouble, they were at it again this weekend. Our supporters might get a bit daft but rarely, in my experience, go out looking for trouble.

To be fair, big boobs deserve to be acknowledged. Maybe not in the 70's Honk Honk style but staring at them while you speak is (IMHO) perfectly acceptable

If they weren't meant to be stared at they wouldn't be there.

Reminds me of the old one...

Q: What do you call the area between a womans breasts and her hips?

A: A waste, you could easily fit another pair of tits there

I'm glad I wasn't a fully grown adult in the 70's and 80's because I'm not naive enough to think I wouldn't have been dragged into all that. I more than likely would have been. Thankfully, I wasn't. I've grown up with a slight hatred for football hooligans, I just see them as cowards. All these lads getting together to volley somebody in the head... I reckon if you called one of them across the road to come and fight you, none of them would be up for it. They only fight in packs. Cowards, every last one of them.

All joking aside, you can see that the culture Byrne allowed to be there allowed him to behave like this that its easy to draw a line to the point that she ignored or downplayed Johnson's behaviour as nothing serious.

Anyway, here's some nudity for everyone to enjoy!
