Good Morning. Its Thursday 23rd September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds set to take part in safe standing trial this season

Leeds are set to take part in a Government backed scheme to reintroduce safe standing at football matches. The Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) has invited clubs in the top two divisions to apply to become part of the trial, which will run to the end of the season. If successful, legislation which have been in place for over 30 years, in the wake of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster could be set to change.

Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston said: "We have been clear that we will work with fans and clubs towards introducing safe standing at football grounds providing there was evidence that installing seating with barriers would have a positive impact on crowd safety.

"With independent research now complete, and capacity crowds back at grounds across the country, now is the right time to make progress. I look forward to hearing from clubs who wish to be part of our early adopters programme during the second half of this season."

It is not known which part of Elland Road would take part in the trial, which is set start on January 1st 2022.
Is safe standing a good idea? Do you get annoyed with the 6ft 6' guy in front of you always obscuring your view at the crucial moment, or do you prefer to stand?

    Gunners up next

Leeds face another trip to the Capital in the last 16 of the league Cup after edging past Fulham on Tuesday night! The quiet tranquil surroundings on the edge of the River Thames will be replaced by a much more raucous and intimidating atmosphere of the Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal!

A win over Mikel Arteta's team would propel the Whites into the Quarter-Finals, and be a welcome break from their league plight! The only other fourth round tie of any note see's Manchester City travel to the London Stadium (formerly the Olympic Stadium used in 2012), home of West Ham. They beat Manchester Utd 1-0 last night at Old Trafford. Let's hope they have worn themselves out for Saturday's trip to Elland Road.

Morning Ell, if we beat Arsenal we shall be in the quarter finals pal, sorry for that.
WestHam fielded a very much second string, they are starting to look a descent footballing side, I fear the worst for Cooper with Antonio, will Amigo throw Cresswell in? Did Summerville do enough, I personally don’t think he did, but let’s see.

Standing I would love to see back it's how Football was and should be all the sitting was for the posh folk lol.
When I'm at a game I hate sitting on them placker seats just awful 9 times out of 10 I always find a way to stand up. if its a attack on goal, a corner, free kick etc. Half Time I will stand throughout I personally think its a better atmosphere when everyone is standing. Still do it at my local team Blyth Spartans.
Agree though if your standing behind a giant it won't be much fun. but you also have a mouth and you could easily ask him to move behind you or to the side. Some will be gentleman and do the deed if he doesn't just throw shyte at him throughout the game and point behind you saying it was coming up there lol.
Really wanted a Home game in the cup but Arsenal Away it is. It could of be worse.
More than anything I want us to find our Mojo again as let's be honest we have been a shadow of ourselves this season.

Would love to see standing allowed again (officially). Tend to stand when I can, which is pretty mandatory in the wedge anyway. If you're a short arse, take a box to stand on, you can't expect Mr Tallguy to move out of everyone's way.

Big season for young Liam but the club must have seen a spark this last few months. 20yo now and a new 2 year contract, so good luck. Remember this lad we bought from Carlisle and he had already played for the first team at 16yo. He is now maturing into another swiss army knife player who has played AM, DM, LB, RB and on the wings

Leeds United will be adding rail seating to the Don Revie North Stand this season as the Premier League pushes towards safe standing.

You can't beat standing at a footy match just like it used to be, used to be fantastic in the kop singing and swaying all over the shop and when a goal went in....bedlam <laugh> when I had quitened down and retired to the family stand with daughters it just wasn't the same .... Wet spam will be a toughie they're no mugs these days, hoping for 3 but would even settle for 1:bandit: as for the gunners, let's have penalties again :emoticon-0175-drunk

And that's why the FA have finally given in when they realise that fans are going to stand anyway. I stand whenever I'm in the wedge (no choice, otherwise I wouldn't see the game !) which I love, but when a goal goes in it's carnage. I've come away with bruises a few times with youths clattering into me from all angles. Some of them seem to have a death wish !

    Morning all,

With Wembley edging closer how seriously would you like Bielsa to take the cup now?

I know he seems to have placed more on it so far this season with team selection but come the Arsenal game if everyone was fit would you place the first choice eleven?

Imagine a cup final or even a cup win this year? A route into Europe as well

I must admit it was a bit of a shock when it first happened. After years of being in the family stand when my son was younger it was a bit of a difference in the wedge. One lad, can't have been more than 17 or 18, launched himself from two rows behind me and I nearly ended up in the row in front.

I just don't get it. I've been caught up in some wonderful moments in ER where I've picked up my mates or hugged random strangers but I've never felt the need to throw myself down the rows in front.

The death knell of the south stand for me was when our own supporters were pulling the ceiling tiles down while singing MOT. Way to show your a super fan.

I prefer sitting but as long as there are both options I don’t see it as a problem.

Singing just feels wrong from a sitting position.
