Fair play to him. Love him or hate him he has worked so hard on not only building his own body but powering that swing. To hit that sweet spot with a slow swing is tough enough let alone when you're throwing the kitchen sink at it.
If he learned to hit it straight more often he would be difficult to stay with, as his short game is pretty good too
Here it is if you missed it live, Seve would've been proud of this escape...https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/golf/58684764
Russell will be told not to hold up Hamilton I'm sure so that's one move Lewis doesn't have to worry too much about. Not that he should have any trouble passing a Williams anyway. I would also expect him to get past Sainz sooner rather than later. Norris however could prove troublesome.
Those blooming yanks keep on hitting those crucial shots at the right time. Most be so soul destroying to be favourite to win a hole only for one of them to hit a miraculous approach or sink a long putt to win the hole for the USA.
I think pressure (USA are hitting some howlers and somehow finding their way back in it with exceptional recovery shots), but also some of the pairings have been a bit odd. Not sure what Rory has done to start any games since yesterday’s foursomes. He couldn’t look less interested. Plus Westwood has reverted to the Westwood that always struggled to be ruthless around the green. There will be some lessons learned here and based on the US team being young and finally stepping out of the age of Tiger, they could be a force for some years to come if they go on and win it.
Europe has the problem of stopping the Americans from putting early pressure on tomorrow, by sending out their big guns at the top of the order, and that would normally include McIlroy, Westwood and Poulter, yet none of them are playing consistently well enough. Casey has also struggled with the putter as well, so I see tomorrow being very difficult. Getting fed up with the number of “get in the bunker” shouts from the loudmouths. Pretty much every hole.
