Poverty can't be eradicated when we are a nation full of lazy bastards. It's easy to blame the system.

 

Especially when we have political parties wanting to support them to be lazy bastards just to get their vote

 

So all people who don’t work don’t work because they’re just lazy bastards? Aye righto

 

The entire system has been around since man first learnt to barter to be fair. He who had the most of what was needed got the most ie. wealthier.

Whilst i can understand the bolded part there is as much trauma, mental illness and physical illness within those that graft hard as there is in those who sit on their ass doing **** all waiting for handouts.

The biggest stress in my life is paying the mortgage after being made redundant and starting my own business. During the pandemic any supplement offered by the government i haven't qualified for as my business id new and as such is still growing slightly not making a loss which was required. At the same time the "unemployed" were given an increase in benefits and not required to attend interviews for employment. I don't think that adversely affected their mental health. These same people are in community housing that they won't ever get kicked out of yet i have the real stress of losing my home.

Now the knackers are complaining that they're being hard done by because the additional payments have stopped.

 

From each according to their ability to each according to their needs.

 

Its a nice idea, but Marxism hasn't exactly been an overwhelming success.

 

I’m a big fan of UBI. If everyone has enough for a decent life we all have stability and humanity can develop. People who want more can then get more, but people who find work a challenge don’t have to suffer. They aren’t all just lazy. I have a son with aspergers and he does work three days a week and it’s about all he can do- the interaction with people is anxiety inducing so he has to have the right work and/or less work. Even people in my family have implied he is a lazy sod who should do more. In my experience there is a fine line between laziness and mental health induced low motivation driven by anxiety. If we had time to be human we might see things differently. 4 day weeks, UBI and rebuild the community I say.

 

"If we had time to be human". Yes, I like that. I think there is certainly a need for us all to be kinder to ourselves and each other.
I think any civilised society recognises the need for a safety net to assist those who, for whatever reason, are unable to work. Even that Thatcher quote about 'there's no such thing as society', which the left are so fond of misquoting, recognises the need for people to be taken care of.
The problem is, any political theory relies on perfect behaviour from every member of society. The reality is that someone, somewhere, will alway seek to exploit the loopholes and that always means that someone else in the system will suffer.

 

You should do stand up comedy.

 

Everything will have its imperfections and some will accept it and some will hate on those with flaws and imperfections. It doesn’t take long on here to see which is which.

Nobody said everybody who doesn't work is a lazy bastard. Saying we are a nation full of lazy bastards (we are) is not the same as saying everybody who doesn't work is a lazy bastard.

Yeah, people who have mental health issues have too many flaws and imperfections. I couldn't and wouldn't have any time for that. They sound like right losers lol.

 

Looks like Momentum have put the kibosh on Keir Starmer's plan to change the leadership election rules for the Labour Party. Unfortunate as it makes it easier for their candidates.

That’s what panic buying does, don’t worry you’ll have a glut next week when they fill the tanks and no one wants any.

 

Panic buying didn't close the fuel stations tbf, it was because there were no deliveries.

When ours opens again people, like me, will naturally go and fill their vehicles in case it happens again ...

... that's not panic buying, it's sensible.

 

Do you believe all fuel lorry drivers just disappeared into thin air this last week after 18 months of the pandemic? Might be something else dodgy going on maybe.

 

No of course not, there are various reasons.

 

Myself & my wife both work full time, our neighbours to the left are private tenants and neither work, they prefer to sit around all day smoking dope. Our neighbours to the right are also private tenants and have lived here longer than us ( we have been here 10 years ) and I have never known them work, he drinks all day every day and she chain smokes all day. Both sets of neighbours have cars, they have holidays and appear to be living a comfortable life. They are nice enough but it does boil my P**s that me and the wife work all week and they live quite comfortably on benefits. My point is bone idol people are handed benefits by any government whilst suckers like me work for a living, nothing has ever been done about it by a Labour, Tory, government. We are led to believe we have HGV driver shortages, fruit & veg pickers, care home worker shortages and so on. I reckon if someone stopped giving my lazy, drug using, alcoholic, chain smoking neighbours housing benefits, and whatever else they get gifted to live on and asked them to refrain from dope smoking and drinking for 8 hours a day and send them to work it would solve an awful lot of problems. It won’t happen though coz some snow flake will come along very soon to tell me why and that will be the very reason my neighbours live the life of Riley.

 

It could be some companies wanted to force the Government's hand to allow more visas?
