Yeah I think his job will be safe for a while, but I think the fans’ patience will run out much, much sooner.
I think you're right, Rob. If you go on to the PinkUn message board, there are quite a few people calling for him to go. Now OK, I know there are lots of loudmouths on the PinkUn, and I'm definitely not saying they're right - I'm just pointing out that there is a very different tone this time and a greater level of discontent. Farke needs to make us at least competitive, and quickly, I feel, or this feeling will grow. And a club with a divided fan base never wins anything.
I agree with this and as Rob says feelings will run higher as time passes without any success. My feeling is that DF has to recognise this and address it by showing a greater realism and awareness that we need results soon. I fail to understand why Kabak and Normann were brought in so quickly when experienced alternatives were available for such a crucial game. Once again we have the youngest back line in the PL and it showed. Normann played forward of McLean and Gilmour, leaving a soft centre in front of the defence which Watford exploited ruthlessly. This is not the time to plan for wonderful things in future years - we need better decision making now. Wishful thinking won't cut it.
15 straight losses worst record by any manager 38 conceded 3 scored. 5 straight losses to start a season club record I can see why the natives are getting restless but it would be madness to spend £50m and sack the manager after those players making their debuts. Buendia had the sparkles without him we look very ordinary. It's time to rotate our defenders and keeper until we find a combination that gets a clean sheet. Omobamidele Ozan and Gunny next , Sargent was one positive and at least Pukki's goal was from open play . Watford fouled us and didn't let us play exactly as I predicted and it works for them . They were the dirtiest team last season too
Rather than rotation, changes should be made for tactical reasons which can be justified over establishing continuity. I'd like to see Gibson brought back for Everton so Hanley can return to the right side of defence. If Normann is not going to play as a DM we need someone who is to screen the defence unless we go to 3 at the back and play Pukki and Sargent up front.
Agree with all that. And let’s face it the reality is we could easily have been awarded a penalty or Pukki finish that great chance he had from about 15 yards, gone 2-1 up around the 60 minute mark and be able to sit back and counterattack with a team that was better set up for that style. Fine margins. But the fine margins keep falling against us at the moment - we really could do with a lucky break or two to be honest, get a bit of positive spirit and atmosphere and some momentum, then maybe those fine margins start going our way.
DF won't stay if he feels continuing will be damaging to the owners. There'll be a mutually agreed parting of the ways and Webber's succession plan will be activated. My guess is that DF has until the third international break in November to turn it around.
I must confess that I am on the edge of the fence now. We have been relatively dodgy at the back for a few years now and it is going to hurt us again this season.
Paddy Davitt tells some hard truths: "The drain of supporters to the exits before the final whistle, and the predictable response from many who remained at the end, should leave no-one in any doubt the expectation is they start to deliver. Norwich fans do not want rallying words, they want action. It is not supporters who need to believe. It is those Farke has entrusted to carry the fight." https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/canaries-ncfc-paddy-davitt-watford-verdict-8336234
I haven’t posted on this forum for months but I see that my thread here is still alive and well lol. SIXTEEN Premier League games SIXTEEN defeats, unfortunately Herr Farke is living on borrowed time. Not entirely his fault as a self-funding club (sic) is never going to be able to compete in the top flight
Agreed. Feels harsh to sack someone when they’ve played against Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Leicester and Everton, especially after a horribly disrupted pre-season and late arrivals. But if we get nil points from Burnley I think it’s only a matter of time.
The trouble is the stats that are stacking up now are making Norwich an international laughing stock at this level. 16 games lost. 3 goals scored. 40 conceded. The worst form this season of any team in any division now. That 3 goals in 16 games is the biggest concern. We can't say we were competitive or unfairly done when we are consistently incapable of scoring. I'll always be one to say we can't expect to stay up at this level with the finances we have, but I still expect us to score some goals, and get the odd unexpected result against a big guy. Those are the things that make these premier league 'holidays' bearable. Last time up was dire, but even then we got to beat Man City in a great game. Genuinely can't see Farke going, but also can't see anything but a processional march to the Championship either.
The difficulty for me is that I don't see DF as the problem. He changed the formation to a back 3 and Normann had a better game alongside McLean and Lees-Melou which helped to make Everton look pretty ordinary. It's not his fault that Kabak conceded an unnecessary penalty or that Pukki and Sargent didn't make the most of some excellent through balls. Our principal hope now is that the new players develop that critical understanding which the PL demands. Burnley would be the perfect place to demonstrate that.
If we don't have one already we need a defensive coach to come in and help, we could probably use a striker coach too thinking about it . Rather than sack Farke give the guy some assistance, I couldn't think of a better coach to get us promoted .
See Hooton would be brilliant as an assistant coach. Unfortunately I think his sights will be set on another managerial position.
There is speculation that NCFC promotion followed by demotion followed promotion ………….is to generate income. It seems that Burnley have followed the same pattern and now remain in PL. Not sure if there is any mileage in this theory but perhaps DF/SW have their own thoughts on this ploy.
