Moving the away fans ...

... is a priority in my opinion.

It just doesn't work in any way.

It's time to close off Sheepfolds, park the coaches there and shove them in the SW corner. Close off the players entrance and club shop area so they can't interfere with the Park & Ride people or those going to the Colliery Tavern, A19, etc.

Every sad little club brings idiots who hoy things down onto families below and clart on outside the baths, etc.

If this isn't addressed someone will be seriously injured, it's only a matter of time.

 

Although they brought a few up yesterday the previous 2 or 3 games had about 4 mini buses full. I have never ever liked them up there. In fact I moved out of the North stand for fear of getting hit with something. If they have to stay then net them. Install covert camera's so any muppet attempting anything stupid is hopefully spotted & given a lifetime ban as well as a massive fine

 

I don't see why we should pay for nets and cctv tbh.

It still means they're acting up with people around the pool and hotel.

Nah, get them on Sheepfolds where our lads can keep them in check if they want bother.

They won't be able to get on the coaches quick enough.

 

Is this a reason why the North Stand has poor matchday sales I wonder. Something definitely need to be done. More searches, higher police presence, more CCTV up there. Hoying flares and smoke bombs at people is ****ing ridiculous.

Catch a couple of them and make an example of them, a couple of year ban from all grounds and a large fine.

 

I'd prefer to let them run the gauntlet of the South Stand lads ...

... it's cheap and effective.

They feel immune, where they are, with the families in the North Stand and act the big lad.

It's easy hoying missiles when you know no one can get at you.

 

A fair few of them are only bairns themselves. Loads of them jumping over the rows of seats to get out quicker on Saturday. Stewards just watched them and done nowt about it, back in the day they were straight on to people for doing that (and standing in the walkway, which is another pet hate of mine).

I agree, not only is it for safety but it will massively improve the atmosphere again. I sit just to the north side of the east stand and even when there are only a few hundred fans up in the concourse it is like a megaphone as it echo's in the empty space. Always sounds like there are way more away fans.

Some will understandably be unhappy at being moved but it has to be done.

Didn't know it was a requirement for the Premier League mind...what about those up the road?

Surely the only option is to move them back to the South Stand. The stadium was designed to house them in that stand - direct access to St Peters/Sheepfolds in the event they need to be escorted out the stadium, proximity to the cells and match control. Sure it will upset some folk, but rather than trying to shoehorn them in somewhere else that doesn't work, the obvious solution is there for all to see. The dafties in the Roker End can make as much noise elsewhere in the stadium I'm sure

 

I'd like to think common sense will prevail, it will be an interesting consultation...

 

Deffo. Far harder to undo something once its done. Whatever happens, people will be upset

Earlier in the meeting, Mr Davison outlined why it was necessary, he said: "There were issues with the away fans at the Coventry City and Burnley home games this season and the club has had a meeting with the SGSA directly on stadium safety. Can't please everyone. The hard fact is we can't have away fans in a top tier with the ability to intimidate our fans below with missiles of whatever style.
Our stadium is too good for that.......we don't need it.....and the club needs to sort it.
We love the away fans in there....contributes to our atmosphere......singing their songs and celebrate goals when they get them.....it's what we do do every single away match.....it's what it's all about...but not if we're in danger.

 

Agree, the sooner they are moved to the lower bowl, wherever is best, the better for us all.

 

Aye but this is what the consultation is about...you put them back there means you have to move the family area - they wont be able to stay there, plus the south stand is the adopted Roker end (means nowt I know) but having our fans behind both goals sould stay imo....the obvious choice in all this is putting them in the family area and moving the family area to the opposite in the NW. That means the 2 teams will be now running out on the correct side of the changing rooms and all the security and easy movement of fans is at the end they were originally designed for

 

What about the bigger allocations where a corner isn't big enough? Do they spread round to the East stand and get on TV or take some of the Roker which is virtually all season tickets. Teams could bring 4.5k and a corner wouldn't be big enough.

 

That's a reasonable issue - as it stands now (and that may change in coming seasons of course) the NW corner is empty so there is plenty of room.
What did we do in the past? I know the barriers can be moved across, but as you rightly say, there are hundreds of SC holders in the South Stand (as there are in other parts of the ground.

However you dress it up - people are going to be pissed off. There will be plenty who have sat together in large sections for years and are going to get disrupted, having said that there may be scope for those fans getting something out of the deal - when my Dad's mag friend was moved from his seat in Sid James Park (when they expanded the hotch potch and moved/expanded the corporate section) he only agreed to move if he was allowed to use main entrance, access to the lift and discounted SC for a few years. Might be the opportunity for some to move to PC, or BCB at a discounted price?
