Something I noticed yesterday (and on other games) was that we usually lost possession from our throw ins.

There doesn’t seem to be many (or sometimes any) options to throw to with little movement by our players and this results in either losing the ball when it’s thrown upfield into a crowd of players or as soon as a short throw in is taken we are immediately under pressure.

They've played the likes of Ipswich so I hardly doubt we were the worst team they've played. Over 30k attendance in league one can never ever be regarded as **** support. Muppets.

I agree they dominated second half. I thought we were really under the cosh until Dajuku come on. His pace and eagerness to go forward started to relieve the pressure from our defence and allowed the players to play a little higher up the pitch. He could have done a lot better with a couple of opportunities but that's just rawness. Loads to like about his performance.

That forum makes this one look like a meeting of MENSA <laugh>

I loved this one, he's decided Bolton are the best team despite not actually seeing all the others.

    waffer cup 07

"Were the best footballing side in the league, by miles, displaying pretty football doesn't win matches. Desperately need a goal scorer."

So, the best side despite being poor at kicking the ball into the net, Ipswich apart ...

... sadly for them what good footballing sides do.

I think this bloke speaks honestly, respectfully and seems knowledgeable on the game.

Bolton are a decent team. I think they'll be around the play-offs, this season.

Gooch and McGeady often beat their man then look up to see who's available ...

... when there's no runners they have to check back or beat the man again.

That leads to criticism of them but I think Johnson knows there's more to it than meets the eye.

Only thing about Gooch is that he doesn’t always lift his head particularly when Winchester is overlapping , his lack of awareness in picking his passes if frustrating . He has so much unfulfilled potential , he needs to be studying players who play in his kind of position and trying to learn from them .

    I totally agree mate.

My hope is that the coaching that's transformed other players will work on Gooch.

I blame the previous managers more than Gooch tbh, he has so much talent and it's frustrating to watch him at at times.

Guess the team and the manager ...

"He is so tactically inept it's painful to watch, always so negative, always tries to hang on if we go one up, never changes formation when it's patently obvious it's not working. Plays strikers on the wing, has one bloke up top with less support than a Primark bra, and then we have to suffer his dulcet toned post match reaction."

Two things yesterday. One very strange the other not sure.
    1. I believe yesterday was the 1st time I had ever been in the ground sober. Long story and dont want to go into it.
    2. Did they actually read out the away team players names?

You can't expect a bloke from Sunderland to pronounce the names of away teams ...

.... sorry but they struggled with Linel Pirez for years.

And the nice thing is that it's possible that 2 teams might pull away, and not 3. With luck the teams below us will keep beating each other and the gap could grow.

I’m going to take responsibility for that. I watched my son play for 5 different teams since 6 year old (he’s 17 tomorrow). Every club he played for had this issue. He moved to clubs who we’d played against and it was like the issue followed me and him.

so, fir that reason, I’m thinking it’s the club I support which never seems to have an option!! Sorry!!!!

reet, full 90 just watched there...

sorry if i ruffle a few feathers here but bolton won the 'general play' trophy, used the ball better, excellent forward movement and with better finishing could have had a couple themselves.

that said, i feel we still created the better of the chances so maybe it was one of those days that everyone was struggling (apart from winiesta, of course).

noticed one or two mentioned santos, that bloke is a brick wall mind and gets my man of the match for them, left or right he always seemed to be in the way and marshalled stewart well all game.

i don't think any of our lads really got going but they also never let anyone down, some good ideas on the pitch that just did not come off today, dajaku and huggins showed similar nerves to the other new lads on their debuts but if they improve as fast and the same then they will become more of a threat.

on another day, pritchard and dajaku could have got their first goals but on those performances they will not be long in coming.

one final point, seemed to be a good friendship between the teams (onien/santos spat aside) and i noticed when our subs came on, their manager made a point of going to our lads and shaking their hands as they came off, so far this season we are seeing teams more likely to play football and bolton, imho, have been one of the better organised attacking teams i have seen, lost it a wee bit in the box when it mattered but if they get that part right they will cause many problems this season.

With better finishing we could've scored 3 or 4 tbh.

    Stewart, McGeady, Pritchard, Dajaku, etc.
