I’m sure all this team needed before the window shut was an experienced centre half and a Championship capable centre forward. Derby managed to achieve that by signing Jagielka and Baldock under the same embargo rules as us. I’m sure similar type players were available. Then with Huddlestone you have an experienced spine to the team.
Who are the 12 hardy souls clinging to the hope that McCann can suddenly turn this around? We’re in another tailspin. The cycle of abject performances and the utterly abysmal record he has at this level needs changing.
Agreed. Isn't Marshall now 3rd choice 'Keeper at Derby? Experience was available if we wanted it - but I suspect' someone' didn't want players coming in with strong opinions and greater championship experience than himself and the rest of the coaching staff.
Hey, I hope he does turn it around. Need at least 4 points from the next 2 to buy himself some more time from me though. I'm not one of the 12 BTW. I just can't see that happening.
I don’t disagree with the policy of signing potential. But you need to blend it with experience. We just continue shooting ourselves in the foot. I’d rather have signed a few less squad fillers and got a couple of battle hardened professionals to supplement Huddlestone.
Same here. You're not gonna develop your young talent without having experience alongside them - so it defeats the purpose of focusing on youth development. We have a young inexperienced manager who never really succeeded as a player at the level, leading a young and inexperienced squad at the level and for all their work and endeavour its strikingly obvious on the pitch during games.
Jurys still out on that for me. Especially after Saturday. But using Marshall as an example was more to prove the point that experience was available if we wanted it.
You can blame the Allams all you want, but McCann is supposed to be picking the team & tactics, if he’s got any guts, he’d do something different, but he doesn’t have the guts to. BTW, I’m one of the 12 who hasn’t changed their vote….yet. Come Saturday, might be a different kettle of fish.
His inflexibility is a concern, as his inability to cope with any challenge to his way of thinking. He should also have been pushing to bring in experience instead of bristling at Mike White after bristling at Burnsy for suggesting as much.
The Allams have killed the club off the pitch, and now ably supported by Terry they are killing it on the pitch as well. With The Prem money, and having little to show for it, The Allams have not managed the clubs finances including revenues successfully. They have lost key stakeholders and to take an asset worth well over £100m to one which today may be worth c£20m takes some level of incompetance!
I suspect it will be more like £15m plus any outstanding income from previous transfers as HT2 alluded to early in the summer. Let's face it, without investment in January we'll be back in League 1 and in that scenario their asset will be worthless. They can't take interest from a club that's losing money without devaluing their own asset further. It's got to the point they've bled it dry. I think they have no real option but to sell.
I suspect after the promotion it might have been 20 million.... and after the Preston game ... now divide by 4 multiply by 3 subtract 7 and take the co-efficient, whatever that means...
