Anyone know who owns this land at nunsmoor park? This could be a prime location for new stadium and training facilities etc. I’m sure roads can be rerouted etc and it keeps it relatively close to the city centre. The area by the current arena is obviously attractive and will be available…either option could work like I guess. McCracken Park in Gosforth also springs to mind but think there will be a big push/desire to stay in the city centre if I’m honest…it’s one of the USP’s for me!

Isn’t Nun’s Moor owned by the Council? One or two years back I worked for the Council’s Parks Department as a summer job and part of the time was spent at Nun’s Moor Park.

For me I would prefer to redevelop St James’ Park but at a push would consider the Arena as still next to the heart of the City but Nun’s Moor just a touch too far out.

Staying at SJP would be the aim for me, fantastic stadium - understand that there may be some difficulties with expansion but I’m sure something could be done

Ashley sold Strawberry Place and effectively ****ed any expansion of the ground to increase capacity, I would take on the Arena site and the brown field sites around it, you could build a world class stadium there with 70/80,000 capacity.

I’m sure the land could be bought back for a price though?

SJP will be bulldozed. Reuben’s will develop it for student flats etc.

we will then build a 85,000 stadium and training complex pit near the airport. Decent transport links etc…

City centre only and no building on parks or freeman land.
Leaves two options that I can think of: Arena site and redevelop St.James's. They need to move fast.

This is the only real option if you put aside our feelings towards st James park.

Honestly it is also the only practical option aswell. You develop the new stadium while the old one serves its purpose while the 3-5 year plane takes shape.

In some of the statements following the takeover I’m sure I heard someone thanking the fans for their patience over the last 4 years as well as a whole bunch of others, most noteably the council who they made reference to having worked with over the last 4 years. I’m convinced they’ve been working behind the scenes on stuff like this about redevelopment/relocation options etc. I reckon they are gonna have plans already with options to put out there…how much public/fan consultation goes into the decision making process will be interesting to see but I don’t believe for one minute that they’re gonna just drop a bombshell on us and piss us off before things even get going.

At least we’re allowed to think/talk about **** like this now with the belief that it’s actually gonna ****ing happen now rather than it just being a pipe dream!

I know the council planned to build a new arena on the Gateshead side of the river and redevelop the arena site for housing etc but that was all put on hold with Covid, it is the ideal city site for a new ground complex and the possibility of expansion of SJP has gone with the loss of Strawberry Place, the airport notion doesn't work in my mind as it is too far out and traffic issues would be huge as most fans would have to use cars to get there. A new stadium complex on the old arena site could even provide for a concert venue and other entertainment attractions that make it much more than just a football stadium as well.
