I feel like that but at the same time I don't fancy being a mediocre League one/Championship club. I'd still rather be amongst the big boys.

So it would seem. I can't see Communism ever being the answer though. The previous experiment with Communism demonstrated that its rare for it not to descend into corruption and despotism far beyond what some posters would accuse the Conservative Party of. Russia, however, may be a special case. Friends of mine from other former Eastern bloc countries, who grew up under Communism, certainly wouldn't go back to it. Although they are equally dismayed at how right wing those countries have become.

No single member of the house stands out unfortunately but there is one critical requirement any PM must have and that is respect for the position he holds. Johnson appears to have absolute contempt for Parliament and the voters. His behaviour when under pressure is to waffle and bluster and when that doesn't work he hides or tries to stop the questions about his actions from being asked.

He is not fit to hold the position of PM.

So there's no better alternative... Well done for answering his question even if it was in a roundabout way.

I think the problem is that he is the most fit person to hold the position of PM, out of all those that would want to be. As you say, there is no one member of the house who stands out.
For someone who so many are happy to dismiss as a bit of a thicky, he's done a rather cunning job of manoeuvering himself into his current job. I think that a lot of the bluster and buffoonery is a well-cultivated act (like the deliberately messy hair) designed to catch people off guard. He's clearly not adept at thinking on his feet, in interviews etc, but he can deliver a scripted speech very well, which is a skill in itself, and he keeps getting himself into these top jobs so he clearly has something about him. I think he's capable of more, intellectually, but the bar is so low currently he doesn't need to try harder.
His contempt for Parliament is hard to swallow and he arguably should show more respect for the institution but its hard not be contemptuous of the other people currently occupying seats in the Commons.

Yeah, I have a Bulgarian colleague who grew up under communism, and absolutely hates commies of any description. He wasn’t too fond of Jeremy Corbyn either for that matter.

For most Eastern European countries, communism meant Russian occupation. Might have been different for Russians themselves.

I don’t think communism is the answer to anything tbh. But I’m not so sure capitalism is such a roaring success either, for any but a handful of people.

Yeah, I think there was a lot of anti-Russian feeling in those countries as that time. I think, though, that a lot of those countries had been fairly vibrant democracies prior to WW2 (or were just getting used to it after being part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) whereas the Russians had always had a 'strong man' at the top- they just swapped the Tsar for a Communist dictator and then, after a string of pale imitations, we come to Putin.

There's no alternative to those in power because they're currently in power

That doesn't mean they're above criticism.

I don't care who's in power, I just want them to do a great job ...

... not just be less worse than someone else.

I don't want a PM who acts the buffoon, 'to catch people off guard', I want someone capable and professional not playing games.

I never said he was above criticism. In fact I said slagging off the current Prime Minister was OK. What games is he playing?

That comment was in response to @The Norton Cat who said,

"I think that a lot of the bluster and buffoonery is a well-cultivated act (like the deliberately messy hair) designed to catch people off guard."

Sorry but you quoted my post. There was no mention of Nortons post. Hence my question...so if you still think he is playing games.....what games?
