If we play like that against Burnley and Watford we should pick up wins there (Watford we’re dreadful against the Scouse Scum) and we can relax a bit and enjoy things again both on and off the pitch
Looked like he grabbed his hamstring, appeared to be in a lot of pain was really surprised he continued after that and he was being helped to walk around after the final whistle - hope that extra 20 mins after the goal hasn’t aggravated anything.
I was only half concentrating (due to celebrating myself), but I think Djenepo fell on him during the celebration melee.
An excellent perormance by Saints with Salisu and Redmond being outstanding. In fact, I cannopt recall seeing Remond playing this good since a few seasons ago, This result will kick start our season and I think we will soon be moving up the table. I would like to make two predictions about the future. The first is that I think we will struggle to keep Salisu and he will end up being poached by Man CIty or Liverpool. In my opinion, he is class and I can even forgive him the mix up with McCarthy this afternoon. My other prediction is that Leeds will end up getting relegated. in Mat along with Norwich and Watford.
I thought we took about 30 mins to realise just how poor Leeds were, without so many key players. Once we realised that, we stepped it up and dominated. And with Leeds' bench, they were only ever going to get worse. Distribution wise, Cooper put in one of the worst CB performances I have seen in a very long time. Laughably bad. Salisu and Diallo were my joint MOTM. Couldn't split them. Redmond's best game for ages. But then again, he regularly plays better as a striker than as an attacking midfielder. The task for Ralph is to somehow get Redmond producing performances like that as an attacking midfielder (thereby allowing a more natural goalscorer, like Armstrong, to play up front). Thought Stu looked horribly off it, but that's to be expected after his injury. I'm not concerned in the slightest. If Diallo plays like that again over the next two matches, Ralph will have an interesting dilemma on his hands.
Agree Tom. Diallo bossed the midfield, broke up a lot of play and looked to get the ball forward. Salisu was brilliant in the first half, a couple of slips in the second, but otherwise immense. Redmond had good game, actually tried to dribble around a player once and did well with the assist. Might have scored too if Broja and reciprocated with an assist. Ely was working hard for the team. 2-0 would have been a fair reflection of the performances. I thought Wolves were poor, however Leeds look to have a lot of problems.
If that performance had come from a full strength Leeds, I would be seriously thinking about relegation for them (someone needs to join Norwich and Watford). But missing four major players, plus others, was always going to be hugely damaging. As it would be for many PL teams. So I'm not going to read anything into this afternoon. When they're available though, Leeds will clearly need to be way better. Because you don't stay up playing like today on a weekly basis.
Diallo is starting to look like the beast of Brest that we could see in videos before he signed. Athletic, fights hard and great at carrying forward. I hope he continues to get opportunities because he’s a lot of fun to watch. Romeu is reliable but Diallo can make things happen from deep and break lines in a way that JWP and Rom don’t. He takes risks.
They were just as bad against Burnley and Newcastle, albeit they didn’t lose those games. They aren’t happy over on their board losing to an obvious “bottom 3” team has annoyed them
Think we all know this. Depressing but true. Can only hope to keep for as long as possible. Lets enjoy for now.
