Choo -“What we need is a Red Adair type just to get us over this hump.”

Dalman “Someone like Mick McCarthy. Ok he’s just been sacked after losing every game as manager of some team in some Greek island but he took Eire to the World Cup in 1990 and is old so he’ll fit the bill.”

Choo “ But if he gets us safe what’ll we do then?”

Dalman “Well in that case he’ll be hot property so we’ll need to tie him down to a long contract.”

Choo “Mmmm are you sure about that; he may take his foot off the pedal and lose interest.”

Dalman “No he’ll do a Warnock and pick up decent freebies and we’ll get back into the PL.”

Choo “Mmmm that was a one off and he’s got form for ruining one of his previous clubs Ipswich”

Dalman “No trust me, Vincent has left it me to make all the football decisions due to my vast experience and ‘football nous’ so we’ll do that ok?”

Choo “If you say so, the fans will understand.”

That was last year - I doubt it’ll be any different if they do get rid of MM. Tan needs to keep those Chuckle Brothers well away from football matters if we’re going to have any chance of rescuing our club.

I just worry that Vincent Tan has just lost interest in CCFC and football in general.

It was a pretty serious interest as well as an investment in the early days, but perhaps the gloss has worn off.

He recently appointed whizz kid Jalil Rasheed as a non executive director to report to him directly rather than rely on Dalman and Choo - I hope the message is getting through.

Tan needs surely to state something public. The local media should be knocking down his door to get his take on the absolute shambles the club has become.

    Good question Dai.

Much depends on any new manager and his vision for the club. For me, however, keepers: -

    Smithies
    Ralls
    Brown
And maybe Flint, borderline though due to his age.

I agree with the first 3.
Would swap Pack for Flint though.

Smithies and Ralls would be the pick - the rest are very much dependent upon which way we intend to go and none of them really point to the future.

No doubt Ralls will stay if offered a contract, but Smithies is on £33K a week and would have to accept a massive cut - he may well get a better offer elsewhere.

We also need to think (depends on manager) who would want to stay?

    I'd keep Smithies.

Ralls needs a new club, he's getting stale here.

Morrison has always been one of my favorites but age and injury doubts not on his side.

Murphy never realy settled into the team.

The rest, time to shake their hands and thank them as you open the door.

Smithies and Brown. Time to recruit some younger players to start building for the future.

According to WOL Mick has been given two games to save his job. Fulham and Boro.
So how many points would he need? I can only see a maximum of one if we can get a point against Colin’s lot.

2 games? 1 would be too generous.

I can't see any reason for survival of the dinosaur. Bring on the ice age.

2 games it is then. I woke up this morning waiting for confirmation that they've let him go but alas, let's see what happens.

Just say that we get 4 points from the 2 games then what's next? Do the club give him more time? I hope not because that'll just mean that things will settle back in to the same old mundane state that we're currently in. Are they waiting on someone else? Maybe but who and why are they waiting? It leads me to think that they hope that MM can turn things around and that they believe he's the right man for the job. Just goes to show that they care little for our footballing style or that they just don't see what type of trash he's delivering.

Oh well, as they say... 2 games it is!!

Seems odd to say 2 games... if we were to somehow win both but then immediately slip back to say 2 defeats thereafter then he'd still have to go, surely?

Guess that's it.... get on a decent run now or else!

One suspects another poor performance and a bit of a pasting on Wednesday may make that 2 game chance turn into 1.

If that’s true that is just pathetic. He should have gone after WBA.
On the positive side it may be they’re trying to source a replacement and need a tad more time.

BfB touched on it and I would like to find out if any of them can play football and I mean football, not the stuff that's going on at the moment.
We're unlikely to get anything for them in the January window which means we're paying them until the summer anyway.
It's pretty obvious that they are jaded and low on confidence but we don't know that in every case, there isn't a footballer that could be remotivated and able to perform under a new regime with an emphasis on a different style.
I'm afraid that this is why that in my view, Mick has to go and go now. Let's get a new face at the helm and see what can be done to energise the squad.
While I am adamant that Mick's time is up, I think it's important to remember that he was more than successful in his initial task and was rewarded with the offer of the extended contract. Clearly looking back, not the right move by the board but hardly Mick's fault. I know many will say he should have resigned, but he probably does believe he can do a job for us. I'm sure we've all had times where we've carried on with misplaced confidence.
Anyway, in my eyes it is time for him to go but with our thanks and not a shed load of vitriol (other fertilisers are available)
