0-1 loss Bound to be Tricky issue about what time I finish work and where I’m working and whether to go home then out to pub as normal or go out straight from work. Big decisions (unlike our formation which no doubt will already have be decided)
I think in football you make your own luck. Teams that win leagues/cups/European honours don’t win titles consistently by simply having more luck than other teams.
Didn't he say something like it was a 4 3 3 but with a slight alteration ! Roflmao ffs .. it was a 3 5 2, he just couldn't bring himself to actually say it the muppet.
It seems crazy to say it this early in the season, but this is a must-win game. Losing this one and confidence will take a bashing, and then it could be the season before last once again. I just hope he goes 352, I fear he won't, and I think he needs to take Wilk's out of the firing line, as he just is not cutting it. Meaning he will probably play and get a hat trick. Also play Huddlestone, Honeyman and Docherty, as I think that midfield would be a good balance. I just hope they win, as a loss and the fact that I got up in the middle of the night to watch it, my moods tomorrow after sleep deprivation will be foul.
If the weather's anything like it is right now, it's going to be the third match on the trot in monsoon conditions. Must remember waterproofs for being under the leaky East Stand roof.
I fear this has Hull 0 Posh 1 written all over it. We always struggle against teams around us & Ferguson will have put a rocket up the arse of his players before kick off. Soft goal in either the 2nd or 89th minute
What happens if he plays a 352 formation tonight and we get humped 4-0? Will there be an outcry for a return to 433? Get your best players on the pitch. That’s far more important than formations. And it’s what he failed to do on Saturday.
Its not as simple as getting your best players on the pitch. Formations, opposition strengths / weaknesses, fitness levels etc matter. Its not an either / or matter. The problem ( or one of them) is that McCann shows next to no flexibility or nous in his approach, irrespective of the factors.
This isn't true. He often talks about how he put one of the attackers on a certain side because of what they knew about the full back on that side, for example. After Boro with the forced 3-5-2 he said something about how Boro attack down their left but not so much the right, so he was comfortable with KLP at wing back. What you really mean here is he doesn't switch from 4-3-3. Which, at the risk of having the same circular argument again, is a very normal thing done by loads of clubs. There is much more to game plans than just what you can read from the team sheet. It amazes me how few people recognise this.
What amazes me is how he constantly fails to recognise how we get constantly overrun in midfield while playing the so called 4 3 3 .. yet against Boro we had more of a grasp on the game playing his 4 3 3 with a slight alteration ! We brought in enough midfielders ffs, try using some of them!
