Who cares what he'd have made of them - I think they're great reading. ;)

Have only just started the sixth one in the series, so can't give any feedback yet.

    Great film... As is Nomadland...

We saw Dune here on Sunday in a little cinema in a country town in which the back of the hall was lower.. So you looked up at the screen... Different... Meanwhile any thoughts on Dune? I read all the books and saw the original one... This one was pretty true to the story.... But filled with all the Hollywood type effects.. So i was disappointed.. And of the group I went with.. None will go to any follow up..

    Not seen Nomadland.

Dune is one of those things that I so want to like, ought to like, and yet every version leaves me cold. I'll watch it when it comes around on subscription, 52" telly and surround sound does for most things.

Classic. The Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber, remake was a fine effort too.

The original is the better film though. Rather like the original Invasion of the Bodysnatchers is the most disturbing version, frightened the bejaysus out of me that did when I was a nipper!

I've just rewatched The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock. First time in a couple of years or more. Recommended. Highly recommended. Stratospheric, even. Yeah, okay, probably waxed up a bit for Hollywood but as feel good films to this is as "feel good" as it gets. and then you see the photos of the real Michael Oher with his family and tutor... Good job, Hollywood, seriously good job.

The Queen's Gambit on Netflix. Fantastic story writing: sex n drugs n ...erm... chess! Binge watched 7 hour+ long episodes over an evening and an afternoon.
Spellbinding and brilliantly cast. Thoroughly recommended.

We've just watched Don't Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchette, Mark Rylance, Meryl Streep... seriously dark humour asteroid impending disaster movie. Absolutely brilliant and terrifyingly observant of contemporary corporate greed. an absolute must watch. It is written for a younger audience than most of us here but do stick with it to the very, very, end.... Absolutely sidesplitting!
