Ooohhh another new variant. Looks like someone remembered the threats from 12 months ago. They nearly let that one slip!

Totally agree, but don't be fooling ourselves that it's over, that's all.

Imagine an opposition that scrutinised draconian acts of parliaments that give the government near-unlimited powers to bring the entire economy and country to a standstill. Says a lot when government backbenchers are criticising the opposition for not opposing them properly.

Why do you think I'm worried? Being aware isn't being worried.

I've no problem wearing a mask, in fact I usually do in most crowded indoor settings like shops or walking through a restaurant, and I wash my hands frequently and use sanitiser when I don't have access to hot water and soap. I'm out and about like normal (pubs, gigs, football), but I quite like the fact that as well as avoiding Covid, I've also avoided any other respiratory illnesses and norovirus over the last 18 months. I've nothing to fear from getting ill, but its unpleasant and I'd rather avoid it if I can, plus I don't want to pass it on to elderly relatives. To me mask wearing is a trivial thing to do, it may help and worst case it does no harm (and keeps my face warm) so I do it. Plus anyone not washing their hands and/or coughing, sneezing without covering their mouth is an antisocial manky git to be avoided at the best of times anyway

"It's only flu" crowd can GTF, as I assume they've never actually had flu. I have, 20 years ago. Knocked me out for a month, have had an annual flu jab every year since. Well worth the £10 to get it done at the pharmacy and now I'm middle-aged I get it for free.

Make sure you wear a helmet when walking to watch city in case a meteorite falls on your head…..it may help, worst case it does no harm……

it doesn’t bother me that you wear one, you seem sensible on your approach.

what bothers me is people wearing a face covering in the ridiculous belief that the cloth is preventing them from catching covid.

be gutted if there is another lockdown, supposed to be going to a special week at Butlins geared towards toddlers since April 2020.
its now rearranged to an xmas one , and we are supposed to be going on my daughters birthday in December , she can't wait to go and talks about it every day .
i appreciate this isnt high on the governments thinking when making these decisions, but still be a ****ter and got a bad feeling it will come

Only one observational study has directly analyzed the impact of mask use in the community on COVID-19 transmission. The study looked at the reduction of secondary transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in Beijing households by face mask use. It found that face masks were 79% effective in preventing transmission, if they were used by all household members prior to symptoms occurring. - National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America - Jan 2021.

I think you can debate how effective they are different circumstances, but it's simply not true to say they do nothing to prevent the spread of COVID.

Personally, I don't like wearing them and I'd prefer not to see any of the previous restrictions return, I think any further lockdowns will be far more damaging than the previous ones and we should continue to live with the consequences of opening up again.

Lockdown is not returning - the compliance for anything like previous restrictions would simply not be there and people would continue to socialise and see family. It would be pointless.

The best they can do is run proper Public Health campaigns on getting your jab, "coughs and sneezes spread diseases", washing hands, asking people to socially distance/wear masks when in crowded situations, and if you're unwell (for whatever reason) then don't socialise with your mates, don't breathe on granny and if possible WFH.

You’d be amazing how many out there still think ‘it’s only flu Bro’...

I’d put money on mask being ‘strongly advised’ indoors and on transport within a couple of weeks or so.

‘Advised’ as it gives Boris another get out clause.

“ I told them too...but they dident do it”...

    Allam’s OUT.

What bothers (well more amuses) is seeing people driving around in there own car with a mask on.

    What is that all abooot!
