PL doesn't work like that. Or football in general really.

I’m guessing WARCHEST1 would think Watford at home is a must get three as well…

If we’d got a point off Leeds and beaten Burnley I’d have been fine with it - as would a lot of other people whinging.

Watford, Villa and Norwich next up. Need at least four more, hopefully 6 or more.

We tried mixing up the tactics, a couple periods in the game Romeu dropped between the CBs giving the full backs the freedom to roam.
Definitely two points dropped in my book.
Regards Broja limping, a few minutes before he was sat on the ground stretching both his calf muscles, as you would with cramp, so probably just a fitness thing (hopefully).

I think Ralph made one error today in starting Theo. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in leaving it so late to bring on Armstrong as he knows better than us how fit he is.

I disagree. He was involved with most of our link up play and certainly offers a threat. Ely and Theo just too static and readable.

The miss was a bad one sure. Slight deflection off the defender though if you look closely. But yeah gotta be scoring that.

Point's alright. Sounds like a reasonable performance with some individual errors that can be worked on.

And Saints social media explodes :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm
Ralph out - Redmond useless (clearly jealous of Broja as he never passes to him), Bednarek out, Che out (I didn’t think he brought anything to the team to be honest), Walcott useless (can’t really argue with that …..) - I despair :emoticon-0121-angry
You’d think we got dicked - and Burnley are always a tough team to beat …..

There are parts of Dyche I like and parts I dislike. I don't like the way he constantly moans that little old Burnley hardly ever get penalties or they are hard done by. But I do respect him going for the win today by taking off Cork and bringing on Rodriguez. Fair play. Didn't work but he had a go.

Whether this is a good or bad point heavily depends on next week. Seven points from three games is solid - more than solid; would be no complaints from me. But four points from three games, given the opposition, would be poor.

Thought Tino was head and shoulders our best player. By some distance.

One of those games where you just wish there was a bit more creativity in the middle of the park - Romeu in particular. They regularly seemed to have space to work in, but without the craft to take advantage.

Rare poor game for Salisu. Thought his passing was largely below par. But it can happen, move on.

Injury aside, Broja is probably looking at a long run in the team now. Big game for Che and New Armstrong in midweek, to try and put their hands up.

I can’t work out quite how I feel about that

MOTM contenders: Tino, Sally, Oriel, Broja
Played OK to Well: Macca, Perraud, The Mos, Nathan
    Not so good: Bedders
Awful: Theo, miss from 12 yards out was appalling

Subs: Stu looking fitter, always adds something but nothing quite worked
    The rest, no real impact

    Tella should be starting
Miss JWPs dead balls but not so much in open play as Diallo improving

Sally was immense defensively and played some great long balls into channels

You’ve reminded me how poor his short passing was

Yeah, it goes to show how good he is that I consider today to be a poor game from him. Many defenders I'm sure would have been more than happy with that performance. But when you're as good as Salisu is, the odd poor short pass really stands out.

Can’t believe how bad Theo was today. He’s a senior pro & should be offering more than the total dross he served up today. and 75mins ….

I consider his defensive ability to be as good as VVD when he was at Saints. VVD's ability on the ball was much better though.

Diallo played a couple of gorgeous long passes (one to each advanced full back). We really don’t miss JWP in open play, I don’t think.

Frustrating, we should have won but for a good goal from Cornet.

    Pros

Redmond played well again apart from the miss.

Livramento top notch and motm for me today.

Some of our play when we are in full flow is excellent, haven’t seen that kind of movement from Saints for a long time before the Leeds game, good to see some of it continue today.

    Cons

Diallo took a big step backwards from last week and has a really noticeable problem with hesitancy and getting caught on the ball.

    Awful defending for Burnley’s first.

I’m a defender of Walcott but he wasn’t good today, getting into very good positions but his first touch, passing and shooting were all woeful.

That said if some ‘Saints fans’ cheer when one of our players goes down injured again, I hope some of them get smacked. Plenty of total cnuts in my vicinity with a massive ‘weeeyyy’ when the physios came on for Walcott and I’m in the sleepy Itchen/Chapel corner.

    Pro/Con

Broja is completely embarrassing Adams and A Armstrong, it’s great to see we have a striker that can score for us this season and be such an imposing threat, but Adams and Adam Armstrong appear to be a significant downgrade on him at this stage, when Broja was replaced by Adams our attacking fluency took a notable step down and once A Armstrong came on for Redmond it completely went off a cliff, (albeit for only 5 mins), it was such a noticeable difference that it is quite worrying with Adams and Armstrong being our permanent strikers.

We are playing better, but some significant issues still remain - we should have won today.

Something is not right with our Theo it seems. Just.wondering if his confidence has gone and doesn't trust his own ability? It's happened before with top and lesser known sports people. Ralph must have a clue and is persisting with him for now at least. I really hope we see him make a better contribution soon.

Only my second game, but a lot better than the first! Missed chances cost us the three points, plus a bit of dozy midfield defending and a sleepy GK! My main worry was the injury to Broja, at the end why was he allowed to hobble across the pitch to give a kid his shirt, he could barely walk. I applaud the act but it seemed daft to aggravate a dodgy injury.
