Our second half performance was poor and we should've made subs much, much earlier. We can't win games with Tierney as a ref, though. 10 matches on the trot shows that. He gives us **** all every time, including today and the 3-3 with this lot. We'd go down if he was in charge every week and we'd beat Derby's record.
I really don’t think keeping Kane was a mistake. Terrible defending for the corner but why is he marking their most dangerous asset from them in the first place? The style of football under this useless **** is stifling every attacking player, in fact every player, attacking or not. Get him out and a sensible choice in and Kane and Son score hatfuls again with others likely chipping in.
No doubt Nuno is back on the hot seat for results this week, and perhaps rightly so. But I thought the problem today was less set up and more a total lack of quality with the final ball. Spurs had plenty of threatening situations (edit--though only in the first half), only for the last pass to go straight to the keeper. I started to hope they'd put one out of play to provide a little variety. I do go back to the fact that this squad has gotten two managers with opposing philosophies fired, and looks like they'll chalk up a third fairly soon. This is why I wanted Kane and Son sold. Everyone over 24 or so is useless at this point for ever winning anything at Spurs, so it's time to move them on. Son is clearly a model player, and wants to be at Spurs, so maybe an exception should be made for him...but as a general rule, everything ought to be focused on winning something in 2-4 years, since what Spurs have at this point is a squad of manager killers.
There is simply no fighting spirit in the team. No real leadership on the pitch and that goes for Nuno too.
Just read there were 7 attempts....none in the second half ... even after going behind We ate simply appalling at going forward and always give away chances. Nuno has to go ... end of story. And Levy should have no say in his replacement... end of story. Am glad I ain't going to games at the moment... end of story. Poor referring decision can't hide or excuse 4 outrageously **** london derby performances. P4 W0 D0 L4 F1 A10 Chances created 24 On target 11 Chances conceded 59 On target 25 No referring decisions or bad luck can hide just how bad we are and have been for 2 years... end of story
The final ball was often poor and if we’d got a couple right and had then pen we could have been 3 up in the second half. That’s not Nuno’s fault, obviously. You’d expect better from the players who made those mistakes, particularly Kane to Son, and Nuno isn’t refereeing the game. But he isn’t making changes when things aren’t working, and we too easily slip into passivity. No shots in the second half and the ponderous nature of much of the play is shocking, especially considering we were creating lots in the first half and we’re better rested than the opposition. I think there might be something in what you and others say about the mentality of the players. Finding a manager to change that is tricky though. And I’m not sure selling Kane and Son is the answer.
We're playing out the Eriksen scenario again. Our player's value is diminishing along with his desire to perform for a club that he doesn't want to be at. Levy needed to acknowledge that and strike the best deal he could get. He misread the situation with City and I'm struggling to see Kane's form being materially better under any manager that the club is likely to appoint to replace the current chump.
I don't think that the manager has anything to do with it. Kane just doesn't give a ****. He's thrown his toys out of the pram and he did it before last season ended. As soon as he did that interview with Neville we should've put him down like a horse and claimed the insurance!
What a shocking indictment of football. Players paid umpteen tens of thousands per week, and can get paid merely for going thru the motions without regard for the fate of the current manager. Conversely, we need to see exactly what/how the players are being coached in training sessions (warts and all) .
We’re so **** that a lot of our fans look to referees for help, consciously or subconsciously. We’d speak about reffing issues probably 3-4 times a season when we were in the prime Poch years. We now have people speaking about them every single game because we’re generally incapable of doing much ourselves and therefore get overly frustrated if we think we should have had a foul/ penalty/ opposition player sent off. Ref standards are poor across the board, has been for years and it won’t change. Best way of trying to avoid potential bad decisions is play well and not need to rely on the refs so often, something we can’t do at the moment.
I feel like a bit of a broken record, (and know most of you agree with me, more or less) but continue to say that the way forward is to get a manager who's good at building attacking teams from young players. There are any number of them around. Frank might be my flavor of the month, but even someone like Hasenhuettl would fit the bill. What we want is something like Borussia Dortmund have, or a better version of Brentford. The other key is for the club to embrace the fact that Spurs are the ultimate penultimate destination for players. Get in the Modrics, Bales and Kanes and sell them for a lot of money when they're 26 or28. It fits perfectly with having an exciting team of young, attacking players.
That's what I'm saying. Kane wanted out. I cannot see anyone or anything to change his mind now. If Levy wanted to keep him, he shouldn't have made the Mourinho appointment. Once that failed, as it was always going to do, the outcome was inevitable. Now? I cannot see who the club would pay for, that would make a difference to Kane's desire to leave or the outcome of this season... We're in a downward spiral and without a complete overhaul of the club's entire management and a significant financial commitment from the owners, it will continue.
Yeah...he got that wrong, along with signing a 6 year contract and having his brother as his agent. Footballers...
