How long until they’re calling Staveley a useless old slag?

I just couldn't get logically why they would invest in Newcastle and not something like NFL, you replied 'eventually' by saying they might do and that they have already invested in F1 and the big boxing matches - so it sort of answers my questions.

They seem to be buying their way into everything. Nufc being just one tiny one.

Oil has brought them great wealth, but for the future they know they need money in other investments. As the UK and the US generally seem to be countries that give them protection, they some how need to guarantee that protection for the future also. So if you own great assets in those countries, aside from stripping them of them, it's like an insurance clause. Hopefully we can use these investments as leverage on human rights, and Newcastle or anyone else that takes their money, should expect pressure to be asserted from the public and the government on those revenue streams. I should add because sport dosen't carry the same weight as oil when it comes to bargaining.

I won't argue with that, but it's only going to be aimed at nufc it seems and directly at nufc fans which is unfair.

That's my issue... It appears it was all fair game until nufc got a few quid and then all of a sudden the every day scroats all start acting like they've been raising human rights concerns prior.

    Table below
Essentially what's going to happen is opposing fans will raise the nufc issue and ignore the others (left) nufc will raise the issues on the (left) ignore the one on the right.

Everyone's a winner maybe things as you say can help

    @Peej

Rafa might be the next everton manager to quit for a better project?

Don't get me wrong I don't even want him, but if it happens I'll really enjoy the fact.

Of course you'll be pleased because you don't want him, but ultimately it'll make Everton look a bit **** won't it?

You've highlighted the Queen and a past Prime Minster, I feel there is a massive difference in World Politics and Newcastle United Football Club. As for the sponsors, Facebook is already under scrutiny for it's behaviours, Uber has constantly been under scrutiny and personally I never use BP, aside from I can't tell what goes into a supermarket forecourt. That's a bit like saying we shouldn't take goods from China but we do. I'd prefer we didn't import from China and looked at our own resources first, but not a lot I can do about that, it's easier just to shout at the Toon army.

It's all about diversification I think.

They are also trying to position themselves like Dubai as a travel and commerce hub, going after leisure and tourism.

They are thinking big as part of their Vision 2030. Tel got me looking into NEOM:

    https://www.orfonline.org/expert-speak/the-brand-new-futuristic-saudi-city-the-line-an-appraisal/

They must see a long term financial benefit to investing in sports. Is it washing... probably yes. Does it scrub away their historical human rights issues, nope. But at the end of the day they see their well running dry so are looking at alternative income streams I guess for decades to come.

Same with other gulf states too, on all measures flagged above.

I can't see why it's any different.. Its blood money coming into our economy and people here benefit from it.

It's as easy for us to start shouting at fans of other clubs and their owners which of course we never did.

It's either wrong or it's not surely?

You're a pointless football club (excuse the pun), that's the difference. Saudi Arabia is an influential resource and ideally situated in the middle east, for world powers. Newcastle is on Tyneside, most the world don't even know the place exists. Your moral thinking is correct, but sadly world peace don't work on morals, it works on the carrot and the stick.

We're just going to have to disagree on that one mate

What I would like to know is where does it become unfair on nufc fans?

Say I tolerate anti Saudi banners? What about chanting things like you dirty Saudi bastards? Is there going to be a line of protection for us and perfectly normal Saudis?

It's a real concern to me tbh I think thing's could get out of hand

Or do you think it'll all just calm down when people get used to it?

I think the first statement is bob on.

Politics and Sport are different and should be kept that way.

Most of the 'rich' countries got rich over a period of time and part of that journey will have involved doing bad things. All states have skeletons.

I use an iphone, weChat.. both Chinese.... I fill up... likely on oil via the gulf.... eat food... imported from the middle east and further afield, holiday in Turkey too and at no point do I sit and question the origins or morality. I accept these things as part of life.

I'll go to watch us play, hopefully with a better team and won't get wound up about our KSA owners (let's be honest they own the lions share..).. in the same way I won't moan when I get in my German car, with Chinese parts, fill up with Gulf Oil to go to my house which I pay our government a lot of money via council tax to live in.

There are bad things done by many states (including our own) and I hope over time that **** stops and the world becomes a better place.

But I choose not to let it affect me and haven't done thus far (the macro or micro stuff).

I'm selfish as hell and have no issue admitting to that, in the same way perhaps fans of other teams, like Chelsea (owner banned from entering UK), Everton (Iran regime links), Citeh (human rights), Brighton (KSA revenue stream), MUFC (KSA revenue stream) accept the revenue stream from those regions and simply move on without getting bogged down in politics or morality debates.

Even Journos who preach morality all of a sudden and who clearly seek clicks over our takeover 'storm' will be more than happy to alter their attitude when they board the plane to Qatar soon to be wined and dined by the hosts... who have their own human rights issues to deal with right now.... (bribery linked to the WC bid was, it seems merely a prologue).

Fans (NUFC and beyond) can get wound up about either side of the argument or like me... sit back and look forward to to seeing how matters in NE1 pan out (with differing degrees of interest of course).

My hopes for this takeover are simple.... see my team try to win matches and hopefully play well in the process. And... just as importantly... I'd like to see the North East feel a benefit like City as thousands of jobs get created as our infrastructure finally gets up to PL standard and beyond.

    I'm a fan not a politician.

Ok so let's try this another, you're running for the train and you're pissed up. A guard stops you and will not let you on the train - so you tell him I'm going to put in a complaint about you. He says don't do that mate and I'll give you free tickets for all future Newcastle games, that's world power. But the guy can't give you free tickets for all future games, so you make your complaint (munse power).

thing is mate, you're still going to get called our for it. I often said on here Chelsea are money laundering, I've seen other people call Chelsea out over it as well, so it isn't just targeting Newcastle. I also said on here that Staveley was involved in the City takeover, and I'm sure no one needs to ask what I think of them, considering we played them in a Final at Wembley. Hence Newcastle wil not be exempt from the same ridicule.

Yeah we've got it coming I just hope there's a line of some description put in place.

Hopefully another takeover happens and the owner is a serial killer or something.. It'll take the heat of us.
