It could happen that players deemed not good enough for us will get promotion. Max Power, Jordan Jones and Wyke for Wigan and Grigg for Rotherham. Just as Embleton played for promoted Blackpool. Why do they appear to be playing better for other teams? I know how Sheffield scored 3 yesterday. Each time Danny Collins said we were playing better, within a minute they go down to our end and score. This happened the 3 times he said it. It’s like saying they (the opposition) look poor and will not score. It’s called tempting fate. He also said we were safe when we got the second at Fleetwood (I think) and they then got two in the last 15 minutes or so. He should start saying we will never score. See if that gets us a goal.
Nobody has a clue what’s happened these last few weeks but I don’t believe it will be tolerated to long so I hope he pulls his finger out.
Yep,our problems entirely revolve around Danny Collins and his inept commentary. KLD needs to exert his authority here and get rid of him.
Very very early doors still, however, not counting the short covid season, this is yet another where the players have one eye on a cup. Leauge form drops off as we get further in.
With the new set up in place, getting rid of Johnson shouldn't cause as much disruption as previous sackings. He's the Head Coach really and not the manager so it won't bring about the same wholesale changes or fragmentation of the backroom set up that previous sackings did. The flip side of this is that if Johnson doesn't have complete responsibility, he cannot be afforded complete blame. For example, he isn't (solely) responsible for recruitment and (as much as I'll argue until I'm blue in the face the importance of getting the tactical approach right) any manager, or head coach, is only as good as the players at his disposal. Clearly, there is some coaching work to be done on the weaknesses that have been exploited in the side in the last couple of weeks but from the outside its very difficult to unpick whether that's a fault on the side of the coaching staff or a an issue with the ability of certain players. In either case, it's very unlikely that the technical staff won't be aware of the problem.
If and when they decide to sack him, it needs to be done in time for a new manager to be able to asses the team, and place his preferences on players he would like to be brought in for the next window. We are not that far adrift, so a manager with a good reputation would be able to get us there, and fill the fans with hope, Kld has seen the bounce a performing Sunderland can attain,With regards to replacement manager, it has been done before mid season so i would expect KLDs crew to already have names and have had a few chats regarding the position on the quiet, All that is needed is a trigger finger , and a ruthless streak as any owner wanting a successful team and prospects should have. From my personal point of view i would be happy if the trigger was pulled, im sick of this league.
A lot of this piece reflects my thoughts. https://www.a-love-supreme.com/single-post/rome-wasn-t-built-in-a-day
People don't need to stress about KLD having the balls sacking Johnson, already plans in place if it comes to it
It really depends on who we'd have in mind to replace him. If it's an obvious improvement rather than another roll of the dice, then I wouldn't be against it. Punting a manager at the first sign of trouble doesn't attract other managers though. We don't have the draw of Premier League exposure any more.
You see I don’t get this, he would only have a plan B replacement if he was near the chop. Otherwise his options might not be available when it comes to the crunch That said, we know what type of head coach we want hence introducing the style of play and dare I say “philosophy”. That said if it’s based on our current style of play, I am available and will be until Speakman comes calling
Everyone should relax. What SAFC need is a welcome period of stabilisation. Better to go up to the Championship with a core of the squad you are going to need than before you are ready. What matters is that SAFC have bottomed out and will get the investment they need to return to the Premier League. It's not about the next 3 years, it's about where they are in 10 years.
