I wonder if the instruction was to get Watkins doubling up on Tino until half time to preserve El Ghazi until then. It would explain the acres that are opening up on our left side in the last few minutes.

I think it’s a safe bet that El Ghazi won’t be seeing another 45 minutes! Beyond that I don’t really know what they’ll be able to do. Perhaps go 5 at the back and try to get a counter in?

 

So we went then from KWP being the furthest forward player to Che being the furthest back!

 

If VAR also punished (clear and obvious) dives rather than just look for penalties, it would help stamp it out.

 

Good first half and an excellent goal from Armstrong which will hopefully give his confidence a boost.

Need to start the second half with the same intensity we started the first and not let them gain momentum. A second will break their spirits with the run they're on imo.

 

I think Adams and A Armstrong are playing like forwards that know there’s a youngster on the bench breathing down their necks for a starting berth too. Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition.

Great half. I can understand Madley not giving a second yellow for the foul on Tino as it was so far inside our half but he should have sent him off for the dive. It was so blatant.

 

I hope we can start as quickly second half, score a couple and give Ralph’s heart a rest.
He always looks so intense that I genuinely fear he is a heart attack or stroke waiting to happen.

 

Nah, both were 100% yellows and he just bottled it.

 

I have seen plenty of yellows given in the defensive half, stopping breakaways by pulling players back/down.
No excuse for not giving one for that.

 

Starting to miss Redmonds corners

 

I think he’ll make it, but he just needs to change his game slightly to adapt. His goals reels were full of second touches taken to then pick his shot, whereas that’s a gift in the PL. Take the gifts when they come and work hard for the others.

 

Hardly a gift, he timed his run perfectly and hit the shot so cleanly.

 

Agreed.... JWP’s look better but Redmond’s actually end up more dangerous
