Why tonight and not last week? Seems really odd https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spo...daniel-farke-dismissed-premier-league-8469414
This is daft in the extreme. He finally turns things around and wins an away game against a team we need to beat and they do this. It's sickening.
But if we're limping along, winning 1 out of every 11, something has to give, surely? We can / could still get out of the ****e we're in - but not without swift and decisive action.
Swift and decisive action would have happened earlier. Instead we had speeches defending Farke. Now, after a win, we sack him. It stinks.
According to Norfolk Live the favourites for the job are Frank Lampard, Russell Martin and Mark Robins. End of SW's project then? Back to giving ex players a go. Great.
I don't think it'll be the primary motivation, but yes, compensation for a manager won't cost the £20m+ we'd get for an on-song Cantwell Vs him stagnating in the reserves and leaving for free.
I strongly believe that Webber have the rally cry ahead of the Leeds game as he and the board had decided that Farkes job came down to that game. We lost and I now think the decision was made after that game but they wanted to get to the international break to give them 2 weeks to implement change. I love what Farke has brought us over the last 4/5 years and Yes we won yeaterday and Farke returned to his footballing philosophies but it was far from a dominant performance that gave me confidence of PL survival. First half was decent, second half we could easily have lost.
If that's true and the decision was already made, why announce it last night rather than this morning. It makes no difference to the recruitment of a new Head Coach other than giving any new coach the impression of a cut throat Sporting Director. I've lost a lot of respect for Webber over this. I hope it hit him hard sitting po faced in the stands with Zoë while thinking "Oh sh*t, we're going to win this game and I've got to sack him afterwards". It's a bloody difficult job, but it could have been handled better. The BBC news showed Daniel walking off the pitch smiling when shortly afterwards he would be sacked.
I suspect they announced it because they knew it would leak. Better to tell Farke, let him say a decent goodbye to the players on the trip home - there are clearly a whole bunch of them who hold him in the utmost regard - more posts from Idah, Gibson, etc In a way, although for us it seems weird, I think it probably allows Farke to leave in the best way possible for the circumstances. Plus, I don’t think it does any damage to his standing as a manager so it means he is going to have no trouble picking up a job elsewhere.
